Hi guys!

First of all congrats for the excellent forum layout and excuse my "rusty" english! (I have practiced very little since my university years at UCLA back in the nineties...).

I have been playing BF2 on and off since it came out.So far, I've had no major bugs but a friend of mine (that speaks no english), new to the game has serious problems patching the game.Everything goes fine as far as the installation goes but when it comes to install the patch, then it goes "patching failed" and punkbuster wont let him enter any server.

We tried to solve this, with no results by first updating video card drivers (he's got a 6800GT), then updating soundcard drivers (Audigy2) and finally by re-installing completely winXP, all the drivers and the game itself. He has a P4 3.0ghz ASUS mobo and 2gb of DDR2 ram which should be more than enuff.

I tried finding similar threads using the Search module but could not find anything helpful.

Anyone else has had similar problems?Any ideas?

Thanx in advance.

Ilcobra.

defrag the drive clear out any temp files, stop unnecessary background progs(firewalls, antivirus) then try again with the patching

hardware requirements are 3 GB free disc space on your system drive. that would be my first guess.

I've tried everythin and now I've come to the conclusion that you just have to hammer the patch over and over again until it works. There's no trick or solution for this "patching failed" problem, you just have to keep clicking. LOVELY.
