China's Child Fines Spark Riot

Thousands of villagers have rioted in south-western China over the country's controversial family planning restrictions, reports say.

So basically, the Chinese are protesting against these fines because they are sex-happy and want more than one child.

They are burning down villages, farms, and houses in an attempt to stop these fines.
Is this right?

I think the whole world should cut down on kids - overpopulation is a bad thing.
And if they don't cut down on kids themselves, how else are you going to slow/lower the world's population?

Yeah - not sure about the popularity of that idea. Maybe we'll get it down if we stuff tons of people into California and London, and all those other places with low sea-levels, so that they drown when Global Warming finally hits us? Nah - might take too long...

It's not that they're sex happy, but in rural economies, such as this region of China, children are a source of labor.

This proves my point. The protesters are farmers, meaning they would likely use children as workers in the field. Limiting children limits production which lowers income.
