Okay here's the jig;

A lot of people don't enter the SOTW, or don't post their art, because they think it sucks. Well listen to me, it doesn't suck. Everyone has their own style of art! Story, just to show you:

- I had to do art for 3 years. I thought my art was great. I solely used lines that I wanted to use, paid no attention to detail and made it look like a sort of authentic theme. Many agreed that it did look good, I really liked some of it too;

- My art teacher on the other hand, disagreed. She said (in a polite fashion), that it sucked. This scarred me from ever doing art again.

But the point is, even though my art teacher is wrong, I can't tell her that otherwise I'd get in some serious trouble. But this is a forum, you aren't face to face, you aren't going to get in trouble (assuming you don't take it too far).

So please! Post your art and let people constructively criticize it! Try it, but if you don't like it, that's just your style then! Don't be discouraged because some people's art is "better", your art rocks too. It's just not many people think the same way.

I don't want to turn this thread into a 'rate my art' thread (copyright mine don't use pls) but i don't like it, but that is just personal preference. if you like it, that's all that matters! i just don't like ths general style of it. but then again, i hate most things these days

My Uncle is a real artist, he paints/draws pictures and spent several years studying it at University. That's what i consider real art, a nice painting, i don't really buy into this modern art. No offence to anyone who makes it.

Kinda anoying when i guy makes a picture of a few coloured Squares and it sells for millions, then a guy spends hours painting a nice picture and it isn't worth £500.

My dad knows a guy who draws/paints planes, trains and landscapes. But when he took them to whoever you take them to, they said it wasn't art because it was a representation of something, wtf!, isn't a red circle a representation of a red circle?

I can't grasp why someone would want some overlapping coloured shapes on their wall over something real.

I guess we're just not sophisticated enough to appreciate modern art .

as an artist i learnt long ago that this is the best thing to consider when looking at art work. or for that matter any creative medium.

as said by me at some point in the past.

edit: oh btw if someone looks at my stuff on DA and u have an account can u add some constructive critisism plz coz i find it helps loads when peeps point out stuff i never thought of.

for those of you without the funds for PS or CP et al. u can get a free working version of 'opencanvas', its not the dogs bollox mind you but its not bad for free. its an older version thought so u might need to google and find out which version it is so u dont end up with a trial version.

I have GIMP,but i can't be assed learning all the new layout of it.
