In response to the original post (since I didn't read all 4 pages of what I'm sure are lovely debates) I just want to say that I like xfire the way it is and I don't need a chat program that'll let me talk on AIM and everything else as well. I want to play my games, not be distracted by a bunch of people IM'ing me. If I want to chat, I'll use trillian, but when I want to game, I only keep xfire logged on.

PlayXPert is now open for registration to everyone and the closed beta is over. A LOT of bugs have been fixed in this new version, go check it out!

For something that was gonna blow away Xfire, I will say I have not even heard a rumor of anything like this anywhere, except just recently. That being said reading through the posts, they seem to have a very high opinion of themselves and their software, which may play a part in their future, but I will give it a try, but chances are Ill stick to my good old xfire.
Lookig at the ingame pictures, I can already see its not for me, just need an ingame messenger, nota massive toolbar thats does all sorts of junk, if I need music, I have a media keyboard, neeed IE, Alt-Tab. Good luck on taking over Xfires markets, gonna be difficult for the non mmo crowd where that would be more worthwhile, in game like BF2 and such, doesnt seem it would be useful.

That's the user name that would want to use for the program. You would probably call yourself VorteX so you should enter that into the user name.VorteX wrote:

It is just a beta from what I hear at the minute. Although, personally, I haven't tried it yet. I might install it tomorrow and see what it is like. I barely know what it is at the minute, so I need to scroll through this thread for a bit first!
Whats the user id thing?? How do i get this to complete the sign up?
I was in the inner circle, but only used it for a while, because i switched to Vista, and PlayXpert didn't (and still doesn't) fully support Vista.
The concept is good, but it is no where near release stage (at least when i tried it)
However, now I have a Vista / XP dual boot i might download it again.
