I was in the hospital visiting my mom back when I was in highschool... minding my own business leaning against a stretcher bed in the ICU hallway... bleh, needless to say I really didn't notice the mound underneath the sheets was someone who had just died. I thought it was just a pile of sheets. She walked around the corner, started laughing, and asked me if I had been keeping that body company. I don't get squirmish around gross shit or bodies, but that freaked me out... I think because I was leaning against the damn thing and didn't notice.

I have seen several.
All between the age of 8 - 13.
Every child drowned, unable to revive.

I am joining the Army next September. I made that decision knowing i am not affected by the sight of death. A friend of mine got stabbed late last year. Mourned of course, affected - no.

My thoughts on death and dying (Don't take offence): 'Sucks to be them'
This is why i will find the Army suitable for me... (And SAS in many years)

That sucks. I had a call two summers ago of a 3 year old that had fallen into a pool. When I got there they were just pulling him out. I tried CPR for what seemed like forever on him until medical arrived. I knew it was too late though, and they pronounced him dead at the hospital. I was really upset afterwords, all I could think of was my son, who was 5 at the time. Really hard to deal with when it's a child.

I've seen way too many.first time was when I was younger I saw this lady jump out a 14th floor window, her brains flew a cross the street.2nd time was when one of my brothers killed my other brother over some girl.3rd time was when I found my friend hanging from a rafter by his neck in his metal shop on Valentines day like 2 years ago.4th time was like a few months ago when some guy got stabbed A LOT of times in front of my house and the last time was when my son died.the sad thing is that it's never once affected until my son died.after that I had a psychotic episode stop speaking for 3 months and picked up drinking.when you live in a place like where I live it becomes normal to trip over a dead body every once in a while.

I worked as an EMT in the emergency room at Tulane hospital in New Orleans, it was my job to bag the bodies and take them to the morgue. The only one that bothered me was a guy that had a femoral artery line (an IV that goes directly into the femoral artery in the groin)  that was left open by mistake, so most of his blood volume was pooled between his legs. The mess was awful!! That one got to me a bit.

second time kid in a car at school he sat there for 3 days before anyone noticed he was dead, i thought he just was sleepn the times i saw him

edit: and i have seen pic's of them,  luckly no one in my close family has passed away

You get an opportunity to see one during your training. You don't have to though. I don't know what I was doing that day

Yeah i heard about that guy who had the worst bad luck in the world (got hit by lightning like 14 times)

But really, nobody should be experienced to that.

I worked for the railway here in Sydney for a few years, whilst working in an underground station, some guy commited suicide in the tunnel by jumpin in front of the train in peak hour.
I had the chance to see the body when it happened, cause i had to go up into the tunnel and get the passengers out of the train, but i decided not to....

.....trains stopped for hours, police,coroners..etc came, but they left the body in a body bag on the platform in a small storage room for several more hours. I had to mop the trail left when they had dragged the bodybag up out of the tunnel and along the platform!...Yuck!

Next night on backshift, i walked up the tunnel with a co-worker when trains had stopped to the alcove the guy jumped from. When we got there, there was blood all around the wall and floor...the co-worker started freakin' so we ran back to the platform...

Even though all in saw was grey matter and blood, it left me queasy and uneasy about backshift for weeks.

I was on the freeway, in rush hour traffic, really bad traffic, and I looked ahead and saw what looked to be a tire in the road.
As I got closer, I could see it was a motorcyclist who had been bumped off his bike and ran over several times. I was no more than five feet from his body, which hadn't been covered. His skull was fractured and his brains, or something, had pooled near the top of his head.
The smell.
God.
