tips for all you "newbies" out there

N.B: NO, i am not the perfect PR player quite frankly im crap but ive been playing long enough
to give a few tips

1. ALWAYS join a squad!!!! if you cant, make a new one!!! if you dont join a squad in PR, you cant get limited kits like sniper, AA, marksman etc.

2. Pratcise flying!!!! get the jist of the aircraft, they are much faster than in vBF2 and shit loads of people think they are 1337 and try to fly a littlebird and crash becasue they didnt wait for it to start up. GO TO THE STCIKY FOR MORE INFO

3. The weapons are beefed up in many ways: Damage Per Shot,  Recoil etc. I was finding it hard to get used to because the recoil was so great compared to vBF2, but you get used to it.

4. In some cases, you can just spay bullets and kill someone but in MOST cases you have to aim since the absence of croshairs.

5. (This happens mostly with Gernaders and Light AT) You cant predict the flight of the missle or gernade. 33% of the time if flyss miles away from your intended target. ALWAYS got prone when firing rockets or gernades!!!!

6.  Always listen to you squad leader!!!!!!!!!

7. Check your fire!! keep the sights on the target for a few secs

Try firing the grenades straight up.  They actually whistle when coming down and have the effect of very loud mortars.  Unfortunately, you can never know where they're going to come down (somewhere near you), and have almost no warning when they do - they go so high that you can't see them anymore.

Actually only Insugents RPGs have high deviation. If you crouch and wait and aim it will still deviate. Idea is to simulate the untrained insurgents. Their guns (AKs) also have deviation. With other factions the rockets go where you aim them. With Chineese and British its a bit harder to aim properly because of the scope.

Grenades do have slight deviation, but if you crouch and aim for few seconds its small, but again bigger for insurgents.

For G3's and other weapons that use 7.76mm rounds, it takes two shots to kill an unarmored soldier (SF etc..) and 3 shots to kill armored ones (Rifleman etc..). For M16's and other 5.56mm guns, I think they take 3 for unarmored targets and 4 for armored ones. Of course, head shots are an insta-kill!

If you're in a squad you may want to spilt it into Alpha and Bravo fireteams (over voip), tell them to stick with each other and give orders to both fireteams, but always go for the same objective - it's a hell of a lot more effective having 3 men moving in from two directions than 6 from one.
Also, it means that if one fireteam is mowed down the other one, can clear the area, and perhaps revive downed squadmates.
Also in an infantry squad (i.e ones that mid round don't decide to hop into a tank), you would want; 2 medics, 1 rifleman, officer, and maybe L-AT/H-AT? or Support?

Another key thing is always if your in a squad and have a mic - use it. You may feel stupid but if you know what you're talking about people are going to respond to you & respect you. It makes teamwork a hell of a lot easier if you've got someone telling you orders, or telling you what is where.

A little insurgents tip - when firing an rpg, and you've got time - go prone say there for 3 - 5 seconds and then fire, there is hardly any deviation, I've hit the back of an APC at 200+ meters down to this.

I could never hit an RPG prone, no matter how long I wait. Its probably easier to crouch and fire.

Ya fireteams rock but when i do it we usually have like this:

Assault team and Marksman team.
Assault is 4-5 guys 2 medics(A must!)A rifleman, And an AT, if we have 5 guys he is usually spec op's

Marksman Team is one guy with a marksman or a sniper rifle and a rifle man for spotter and resupply.

Works real well i might add in city maps.

Plain awesome. Stuff like that could actually get me into giving that mod another try or two, even if I know I don't enjoy rounds lasting that long and therefore wouldn't play much per day and week.

Its an amazing mod make sure you know its a teammate or enemy when firing the amount of times I've been teamkilled is unbelieveable! I actually look at them so they'd stop shooting but they ignore the "Check your fire" and proceed to pop a few more into me, god I wish their dad got kicked in the nuts so they didn't exist.

Groundpounders don't bother me that much, but I got teamkilled 6 times in one round by Cobra gunners on /Basrah/ today, together with a few other people, so no one was left to revive. That's not been the first time I cursed the devs and their "per death respawn time penalty" bs.

I'm still very indecisive about this mod. It is definitely a very intense experience, the maps are quite cool, but nothing I've seen today in 4 or 5 hours on 3 different servers could impress me in matters of "teamwork", "efficiency", "communication" or anything alike, leaving aside the fact that quite a few players display a sh*tload of utter arrogance they usually can't back up with actions.
Also, if you end up with a squadleader who doesn't care or has no clue, you're likely to get nowhere and that makes such rounds plain painful.

Edit: It's "teamkilled", not just "killed" of course.

1)  ALL Squad Leaders should become Officers as often as possible. That way you'll be able to set up spawn points for your teammates, which also doubles as resupply and kit request points. I can't tell you how many times i've joined a squad and had a squad leader that only wants the Marksmen kit because its cool. Then me and the other squad mates end up having to run 5 miles to the nearest capable flag because our squad leader is too stupid to set up a point closer to the objective.

2) Smoke Grenades are your friend. If the enemy has the drop on you, pop some smoke and get out of there. Smoke is much more useful than the puff cloud you get in BF2. Use it for everything. If your crossing a street thats being watch by the enemy, throw some smoke and then cross. If your moving in on the enemy, pop smoke on their position to blind them, then move in to finish them off. And ONLY pop smoke on your own position if you are taking heavy fire, other wise you'll blind your teammates and everyone will be screwed. Even then, don't stick around and wait for the smoke to billow out.

I use smoke grenades as distraction.  For example, when I'm behind an enemy or a squad of enemies I throw a smoke nade in front of them.  Sometimes they might think that it is from their own guys trying to cover themselves not knowingly I am behind them with my rifle popping head shots at them. 

sometimes I use smoke nades to aid me in flanking the enemy, some people will assume that you will run through the smoke to gain cover but I pick a spot where they might be looking pop a smoke and run the other side while they are occupied with the general area of my smoke.

smoke nades come in handy once in a while, given a good opportunity to use it.
