Alrighty then, I am looking into playing the bass. Then violin, but it'll come... I am looking at Schecters because I am just plain biased towards them . I am looking at five strings because who doesn't want the low B? So, these are the options I have selected, not much difference but I need some opinions.

Damn. I thought you meant a string bass, until I saw the "guitar" part of the links. Had it been string bass, I could have given you a hand.

They're a little more expensive than those schecter basses, but I personally love both of my Carvin basses. I have an LB70 and a Claro Walnut LB76 and they're both really awesome for the money. Check out http://www.carvin.com.

I have a lot of extra money piling up so I am going to use it on something, useful? I already have a Schecter guitar, very nice piece of equipment. Smoothest action and sound I have ever experienced. I also care much about looks. It has to look different than everything else, by paint, design, anything.

They look nice but I've never played a Schecter before so I can't suggest which one to go for. The first one looks pretty darn nice. I play a 6 string with the low B and a high C but a five string with the low B can be great for fast slapping and percussive bass (as the high C can often get in the way on certain bass lines). I find that basses with lighter coloured wood give a nicer, brighter sound for funky stuff; the darker woods often give a deeper warmer sound. Whether there is varnish on it or not can make a difference too.

Alright... Well, I bought this bass on ebay for $400. Hoping to get it in a few days and see what the bass player for the school jazz band thinks of it.

*cough* Just saying, only really men play a four string....

Check out the Ibanez SRX 400, wonderful bass. Favorite of the 3 I own. Only about $250-350 last I saw.

I can't really tell how good the bass is, I'm only good at siting awesome guitars, I knew the schecter would be well worth it though because, I play schecters! And yes, your band sucks, though its better than I can do as I'm not even in a band .
