That's possibly the stupidest thing I have ever seen that has to do with religion. I really hope none of the christians here believe that. Spanking children is the only thing I'd argue about there. Condoms keep abortions from being necessary, Church and State should be kept separate, entertainment affects everyone, but there's a huge difference between seeing someone die in film and in real life.

Dear student, I don't exist. Forgive the religion that has wasted your precious years of your life while you could have been learning something useful to be a productive human.
Great video reminds me of the stuff my church used to put out, the voice is hilarious.
Cho is the one to blame & that's it.

Dear god, why don't you save the children in africa who don't have any parents? Who don't have anyhere to live, anything to eat or to drink?

Gimme a fuckin' break.

But didn't Cho mention "Jesus" and "God" numerous times in his video?  If anything, an abundance of religion caused it, not a lack of...
I believe that's Cho's understanding of the scriptures introduced the thought that he'd die "like Jesus Christ". IIRC he said it in one of the videos he put out.

I just had a thought:
Where are all the people claiming that the AFA is using the VT shootings to 'push their agenda'. Come on guys, you gave the VT english faculty a good blast... now it's time to take aim at the AFA.

thinking about this..

what they are saying is essentially a watered down version of the westboro baptist church message.

the sins allowed create pain and suffering for everyone.

and i thought we had to wait for the afterlife to be punished...

Come on, Ty.  You know very well that prayer and religious concepts are banned.  Why are you insulting God because He doesn’t force us to listen to Him?  I love it when the human race exercises their free will and then we howl when there’s consequences and point at God like it’s His fault.

What they are saying overall in this video is that religious concepts (10 commandments, etc) have been banned and that teachers are no longer allowed to control their classrooms.  Those two things are undeniable.  When we consider how many school shootings we had when there was still prayer in school and teachers still had the ability to be an authority figure it becomes a valid point to a degree.

Spanking?  There’s debate on that one and I’m fully in favor of it.  I was spanked as a kid and it was good for me.  That’s spanked, not beaten.  There’s a big difference.

Condoms?  Sure they’re available, but how many teens are actually that responsible?  Be honest now.  None of my friends in high school used them even half of the time.  My buddies carried them, but there were plenty of scares when someone “forgot to pull out”.  Forgot. . . . riiiiight.  You have to acknowledge that we as a society are much more overtly sexual than in the past.  Society no longer defers to parents in relation to the decisions of children and teenagers.  We promote students making adult decisions away from their parents who are much wiser and should be guiding them.  Then when the girl ends up pregnant everyone looks at the parents.  Funny how that works.

phhft i love it when people start blaming God for world faults. Hey, i believe in God but i know he can't do help me on my math exam, I know God can't make water come out of now where for the thirsty africans, i know he can't physically stop those bullets in the CT massacre(TT plating can ); human hands have to do the work and  find the solutions, not God.
p.s. heck i can't wait to see some idiot claim the the Jews are to be blamed for the Vtech massacre.

Read Winnie the Pooh.  You'll get the same message as the Bible, but with alot less intolerance.

My teacher actually talked about porn in my Civil Liberties class recently. It is illegal if there is actually a person under the age of 18...but if it is "virtual porn"(in my prof's words), meaning something like a computer model or like a fake person (or some sick twisted thing like that), as long as the actual acts themselves don't violate the obscenity standard other porns have to meet, it is technically legal.

If you are interested, the Supreme Court Case is NY v Ferber, and the passage which seems to leave the above loophole is "[Illegal child porn must] be limited to works that visually depict sexual conduct by children below a specified age. The category of 'sexual conduct' proscribed must also be suitably limited and described."

EDIT: This case was decided in 1982.

So when God was still pretty much in schools in 1966, why did whatshisface go climb up a tower and kill people one by one at random?

Why is that?

Excellent find Kmarion. I particularly like the way their message incorporated their desire to bring back the right to beat children.
indeed we need to stop violence and the only way to do that is to beat people who have done something that we dont like very much and that cant defend them selves.

I hear this "Back in the good ol' days" shit all the time and shit is exactly what it is. Back in the mythical Golden Age social conservatives always wax nostalgic for people still stole, lied, cheated, murdered, raped, committed adultery, used drugs and alcohol to excess and engaged in all the same typical human dumbassery they do today. The main difference is people are now more open in speaking of such things and the modern media allows stories of same to propagate rapidly to the corners of the Earth. This Jack Thompson-esque nonsense about how modernity is making humanity more degenerate is ridiculous, like claiming viruses didn't exist until the technology to view them was created.

I hear the "I was spanked as a kid and I turned out fine" thing too. Usually "fine" seems to be redefined in this instance to encompass strong authoritarian leanings, a firm belief in the idea that "might makes right" and a tendency to excuse bullying behavior in schools with glib non-sequitirs like "kids will be kids". Not saying that's you of course, there are always exceptions however rare they may be.

No, usually they end up looking at the girl as a slut and a whore and the guy as a typical guy who had a typical indiscretion. Teenagers are responsible when you teach them how to be responsible, not by throwing them a pack of Trojans and washing your hands of the whole thing.

Personally I wish some people would quit screaming that their religion is under attack and our national moral fiber is in dire peril because they can't bludgeon people about the head and shoulders with their holy text, their attempts to enshrine their spiritual doctrine in the laws of our nation are opposed and because there are some who dare to not show their religion deference in all things ie. saying  "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas". Establishment clause, motherfuckers, do you speak it?

One of the core problems here is, IMO, the belief that godlessness and a lack of morals are tied together by christian-dominated society.  Its an attitude that is drummed into our heads constantly, and thats something that needs to change.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethic_of_Reciprocity <- A moral base which can be arrived at with minimal time spent thinking about it.
