Which do you choose?? do you choose freedom, where you are free to defend yourself and live freely, but some people may abuse the freedom?? or do you choose security, where you appoint someone to defend you, and you arent able to live freely??

If you're referring to gun laws, that's like the hardest question ever.

If we have guns, thousands of people die because morons with guns = lots of dead people.

If we don't have guns, if it ever comes to the point where we need to rebel/overthrow an unjust government... we're fucked. And I guess the Bill of Rights kinda comes into that.

You kinda have to have them both in todays society.  If there were less people in the world, then we could probably go without the security we now feel is necessary...

I choose Freedom - with my freedom I can protect myself, if I needed to call the police for "security" I could be dead and the killer be in the next county by the time police arrive

You are never free when the government can wiretap your phones without justification, can open your mail, and strongarm ISPs into giving up your e-mail.  That is a dictatorship.

Freedom and security are the same thing.

Freedom = being able to do what you want to do without fear of being harmed arbitrarily

Security = being able to do what you want to do without fear of being harmed arbitrarily

You know people (mostly everyone NOT living in America) want the Bill of Rights rewritten - mainly they want the 2nd amendment taken out

Well if these people get their way and our Bill of Rights gets hacked up then what will stop these people from ripping in up any further

Next could be our Freedom of Speech (no more burning of the flags {even though they should stop} )

then after the Freedom of Speech gets poked and manipulated then imagine what they will go after next .......

What if that wire tap stopped a terror plot?  Or stopped a child molestor?  That to me is freedom.

No it's not.  That is the week justifcations used to make a dictatorship.  Again we will go back to one of the founding fathers (not verbatim)..."Those that would give up liberty for a little temporary safety deserve neither and will lose both."

I like guns, but do not feel the need to buy one.  But if you want one, have at it.

Dude, don't get me wrong.  Would I like to live in a "Leave it to Beaver" world where we didn't have to lock our doors, and everyone knew their neighbors?  Hell yes I would.  However, I find the alternative of the government spying on me, in the name of so called security, far more terrifying.  And for a person that has continually come out against government interference, I find your stance on this hard to comprehend.  Especially as one that has served in the armed forces.

Don't give me this crap about having nothing to hide.  It's not about whether we have anything to hide, it is wholey, and completely, about not needing to feel like we have to hide.  Why should I feel like my conversations on the phone, regardless of political dicenssion and resent should be considered grounds for having my phone tapped.  Why should we give up one of the most fundamental rights that our mail is private and only intended for the party to which it is addressed?

When we stoop to these levels to make, what you would call security, we have already let those that would undermine our way of life win.  You know very well the saying about good men who do nothing.  I say that those that would give up our true freedoms for some illusion of security are far scarrier thany any terrorist or government organization.

way to go with ANARCHY... if everyone went around with their own guns being free doing what they want you get anarchy...

Having a gun does NOT make you free. Have you been brainwashed or something? Freedom and weapons DO NOT go together.
