WHo is the best footballer at present?

I would have to agree that Ronaldo (Man U) is by far the best player around just now. Last season I felt he was a good player but lacked the final delivery. He could beat players but his crosses where not that good and he was missing chances. But this season he has been outstanding. He can change a match within 30 seconds and he is as lively as any player around. He creates chances, he scores with his head and his feet and he has formed a great partnership with Rooney.

On the otherhand is Ronaldinho. I have watched his abilities in many matches and personally i think he is a lazy player. 90% of the things he tries to do fail but it is always that one momeny of major that people seem to remember him for. He is a gifted player but just doesnt perform consitently as Ronaldo.

It's Ronaldo. He turned up here a few seasons ago as a one-trick wonder. (Two tricks if you count rolling on the floor like he'd been shot). This season he has bucked his ideas up and carried United to the title. I think the World Cup last year was the turning point for him, he could have walked away quite easily but didn't.

Messi has been better than Ronaldinho has this season as well, same with Adriano.

I would have to agree that Ronaldo is currently the best player in the world, and not just coz I'm a Manchester United fan through and through.  He really has matured as a player this season, and with devastating effect.  He has skill to spare, and his pace is simply frightening.  20+ goals in a season is something that cannot be argued with - particularly from midfield.  As for the cheat accusations - he plays in the same league as Arjen Robben who is THE biggest cheat I have ever seen play yet nobody seems to notice this.  Anyhow, with Ronaldo I really think he will become the worlds greatest player of all time even surpassing the God that is Maradonna.

I think that currently, Ronaldo is better, but overall Ronaldinho is better.  Cristiano definitely shows great promise and I have no doubt that he will be remembered as one of the all time greats...but I'm not going to base my decision on one outstanding season of play, so for the time being, I'm going with Ronaldinho.

Hm...where to start with little Ronaldo man.
Ah yes!
HE DIVES LIKE THERE IS NO TOMMORROW.
I am not bias here, why? Because I really like Man U.
The guy is pathetic, he has recieved 4 yellow cards for it. More than any other player in Europe.
He actually practices his diving ( rumour? I don't think so ). And every time, even more in the penalty box.
The other thing is, he is so engrossed in his diving and is so used to it that it doesnt come to his head that he is actually cheating and diving in the first place. He got interviewed after he made the most blatant dive and got away with another penalty.
"When you fell, did he inflict physical contact on you?"
"yes, you saw me, he TAPPED me on the shin and I lost my balance"

Yes Ronaldo, whatever floats your boat. A muscly 6 foot 4 man will not go down like that. Especially when the guy doesnt touch you.

He wont get the FIFA player of the year, just because of his terrible diving. The UEFA and FIFA are already looking into his diving and thinking of a sanction. That is how pathetic he is.

As for Ronaldinho. He is one of the best. He isn't lazy. He has an unbelievable attitude.
But he is not THE best.

I am looking a bit into the future here... but Messi will be the best. Or Dos Santos.
Messi = 19
Ronaldo = 22

Messi, incredible pace, dribling, shots, passing. You name it. The little guy is consistent and excells in every part of football. He is strong and can put up a good tackle; unlike Ronaldo.
You just watch a match where messi plays, or an analysis of his game. He is unbeliavable. He creates so much annoyance to the defence, he is smart and quick.
Ronaldo is most of these and some of them are more developed than Messis. But take care of the age difference. Messi has still got a lot to go.

As for Dos Santos. Many of you will not know him. No problem. Just search him up.
17 year old Mexican Striker moving up to the Barcelona first team. Won Best player of the year U-21
He played for the first team in the Netherlands. He kicked ass. I watched every single one of the games.
He is incredible. Seriously.

Look, bias is not part of this. I hate Ronaldo for his diving. Every commentator mentions it.

Do not come back to me with the comment "Ronaldinho dives". Because he doesn't. You wont find people ever talking about it. Only Chelsea fans and people who hate Barcelona.
It's a pathetic, untrue excuse. So shut up.

I see nobody is going to even try and put up a case against that.
I understand I have just shown you why the "best player in the world" really isn't the best player in the world.

But, can you justify, or explain your selection?
I mean, people just say it because they have seen a few games and he looks brilliant. But you have to look at the overall player. Like FIFA do. Not just the skills, but also the mistakes.

THere was rumours in the paper that Celtic were going to be signing the biggest name in football. didnt realise that they literally were signing someone with the biggest name!

However, I am a Rangers fan so all I am going to say is:

He is a big Fud!

Kris Boyd all the way

@ Zimmer. I believe him to be the best in the world by what I have seen, what I have read, what I have seen of other footballers and statistics. I have watched the Premiership all season, I have watched the Spanish footy on Sky, Italian footy from time to time, and from what I see is that Ronaldo can play left, right, center, off the front. He is good in the air, he can beat you with either foot, he creates chances, he scores goals and he works for the team.
I am not doubting that others are good also, but at the present time, he is the best.

My sig. I know Zimmer, maybe your right. I cant disagree with you, but I think Messi doesnt have the "talent".
C Ronaldo is only 22 and he'll learn more through he's carrier.

Doesn't have the talent?
Are you clued up about Spanish football?
Did you even see the hat trick he scored against Madrid? Or the goal he scored for Argentina and the way he played for them.
He is ONLY 19. He has so much more prospect than Ronaldo.

He hasn't really had a hard time outside England. Really.
He has proven his worth in the Prem. But not Europe. Not yet.
How many Premiership defences are actually hardcore and hard to crack? Zilch.
Except for Liverpool and sometimes Chelsea. And he NEVER proves his worth against those kind of teams.
A good player is one that can play against everyone, anywhere. he can only play against teams that give him space.
I watch the Prem as well. But I have a more rounded and less bias view over it. Why? Because I am not British. I don't believe myself as one and my passport says otherwise.
The Premiership doesn't hold that interesting football.
here is the score
Play up - balls over head - run - tackle hard - take pot shots
Repeat until scored.
That is the British game play; not exactly hard for a 6"4 guy with a lot of pace on him.
I agree, his passing ability is tremendous, but it is nowhere near the best in the world. So that part of him fails to live up to the "high" expectations of him.
I hate the guy. For the patheticness of his gameplay. He is a pussy. No doubt about that.
Maybe if he didn't dive and put in some nice tackles, I would like him much more. But till he gets it around his arrogant fat head that diving gets you nowhere and digs you into a deeper hole; I will always hate the guy and never, ever say that he is the best in the world.
He isn't. If he was, then he wouldn't dive. I think FIFA and UEFA both agree with that.
He has talent, but it is not sufficient to cover his appalling diving.

What you are making of him, he is like a god. But everything you mentioned, Messi can do. Messi is probably better than Ronaldo at the change of pace and dribbling.
Lets just see how he does against AC. He will have a tough time.
