I've owned both a 7900GTX and a X1900XTX, the X1900XTX outperforms the 7900GTX. Therefore a X1950 should bitch slap a 7900 GT.

An X1900 XTX out performs a X1950 Pro, there's a BIG difference between the X1950 Pro and XTX and an X1900 XTX performs almost identical to the 7900gtx

Wasn't the 1950 two 1900XT's on a single pcb or I am I thinking of something else?

No but i know the one you're thinking of and it was an animal of a card. A 1950 is just a worked over 1900, your 1900xtx was a top of the range 1900 and a 1950 pro is a lower end 1950

No it wasn't. It was just a progression of the X1900 series. The X1950XTX is a very powerful card though - up there with the 7950GX2 in terms of speed, but also in terms of cost.

The best mid-range solution at the moment is the 8600GTS.

He's right an 8600 would be the best choice what with Crysis just around the corner

Yeah I held off getting a card yesterday as the 8600's came out today, gonna see how they shape up. I had heard some bad things but have now seen some reviews they are saying they are at least as good as the 1900 pro and are of course DX10 ready.  Or at least I gonna see how their release affects the prices of the DX9 cards...
And as I use Overclockers as I my main local supplier I gonna wait to see what ones they get in. I hoping they will be getting some XFX and BFG OC's in soon cus at the moment they only stocking an Asus model. So I gonna wait a week or two to see what happens.
