Ok, so within these pages their endless lists with people quoting their system specs. To me it`s all just random letters and number so my question is is there an easy way to find out what the exact specs are for all the bits in my rig?
    Being a bit of a dunce when it comes to computers all i know is that it a 2yr old Alienware with 2g of RAM. It plays flawlessly but it would be nice to know if i`m behind the times or missing out on some snazzy new hardware.
   I`d greatly appreciate the help.

There are a umber of ways you can do this, easiest way is probably finding your docket for when you brought your computer, finding the model number (if the parts inside aren't on the docket), and then looking up a website with that model number for the specs. Otherwise, you can use Device Manager in Control Panel which will tell you about some of them, or, use CPU - Z, which will show you:

CPU

    * Name and number.
    * Core stepping and process.
    * Package.
    * Core voltage.
    * Internal and external clocks, clock multiplier.
    * Supported instructions sets.
    * Cache information.

Mainboard

    * Vendor, model and revision.
    * BIOS model and date.
    * Chipset (northbridge and southbridge) and sensor.
    * Graphic interface.

Memory

    * Frequency and timings.
    * Module(s) specification using SPD (Serial Presence Detect) : vendor, serial number, timings table.

System

    * Windows and DirectX version.

and is available here, and is freeware.
