Which one is your fav and why, for me its the pkm, sure its slow firing but it has hella knockdown power and also seems more accurate then the mg36, even though it sometimes feels like it takes forever to reload esp when your getting shot at
pkm but don't like either really.
I'd say the MG36 is a bit more accurate than the pkm, especially on 3 round burst.. Plus you can really spray with the MG36 before it overheats.
Tough call as to what I like better though, I have had good experiences with both. If I'm going to be more into supressive fire, PKM, and if I'm going to be more running and firing from the hip, MG36.. Both are great fun, support class is a favourite of mine..

hmm i dont even bother with the mg36, it just seems to weak power wise compared to the pkm. Plus i dont like the fact that even if you hit them in the head with the mg36 its not a instant kill like it is with the pkm
PKM by far is a better gun. Its the only gun EA list as a 7.62mm rounds. Even though the f2000 says it can carry that.
Um, SVD, M24, SCAR-H, RPK-74, and AK-47 are all 7.62 mm...
MG36 all the way. It can fire 90 rounds without over heating, I like the sights better, and its quiet compared to the PKM.
im having a hard time playing as support i never realy got into the class i feel it is a little under powerd but seein as u guys think otherwise can u give me sum tips of using support iv only unlocked the pkm btw.. great for laying prone an sprayin blackhawcks
RPK-74 is 5.45x39mm..Drunkaholic wrote:

Oh and don't forget G3, that's 7.62mm too
To further complicate things, the SVD+ PKM are 7.62x54, the AK-47 is 7.62x39 and the M24, G3 et al are 7.62 NATO (x51). Phew!

7.72mm rounds thats not really an advantage as in this game 50 calibre rounds dont kill in 1 shot to the chest.StickyBombs wrote:

I tried using the PKM for a little while, but it just doesn't feel like a machine gun to me. Nowhere near the accuracy of the other MGs either. The MG36 just seems like what I thought the M249 was suppossed to be like, a true MG. I love the MG36. I love providing fire support whenever possible. The PKM is just no use in a suppressive fire situation IMHO. It doesn't fire fast enough for medium range suppression.
SVD is the Dragonov isn't it? In that case it's a 7.62x54 if I recall, not a 7.62x39. It's a similar round, but slightly larger IIRC. Is the AK-47 in the game? I thought it was an AK-101, which is chambered in 5.56mm IIRC. I used to know a bunch of this stuff. Dang, I need to brush up on firearms some more. I would think the M24 would be chambered in something like .308 or .30-08Drunkaholic wrote:

G3 is .308. Maybe I'm mixing it up with FN-FAL. I'm pretty sure G3 is heavier caliber than 7.62 though. Ah, just realized you edited this between me quoting it . So is the G3 actually .308 NATO? Thank you. Forgot what the 3rd major round was. I knew it was 5 something. 5.45x39mm. Of course, now we have the newest one courtesy of the P90. Smaller round, but still packs the punch of the bigger boys. What was it? 4.7 something? or 5.2 something?priznat wrote:

For the aspiring support warrior look here for good tips on being all that you can be....

For the grand PKM vs. MG36 debate, My vote will go to the PKM. Of course, I'm the guy who loves to chew through a squad or two with a hail of heavy lead and an intimidating sound to accompany it. I usually play within a squad when I go PKM. I like nothing better than to hold an advance whilst my squadmembers scoot n shoot from better angles.

Bugger, I like the sound and power of the PKM and I just unlocked it , but I might as well use it as a club , at least that way I might hit someone! and hopefully on the other team.
As a support weapon I found it good in one fight, keeping the enemy tucked behind the Palms so the squad could tidy them up. After all thats its roll, to deny ground from the enemy or to channel them into a better killing zone for the rest of your squad.

The G3 I used during my mandatory service was a 7.62 x 51 mmJobarra wrote:

I never heard of any different caliber actually.
The FN-FAL (termed G1 in the "Bundeswehr") was 7.62 x 51 mm as well, since it was the standard NATO munition at that time.
I read somewhere that 7.62 x 51 mm is the same as .308 Winchester, but I am not that good with calculating calibers, so take it with a grain of salt
The new G36 uses the 5,56 x 45 mm (.223, also with grain of salt) caliber
Hope this helps
See ya,

The AK-47 is in the game. Play as PLA, I think the AK-47 is much better than the 101...

.308 = 7.62mm, same deal.. The P90 is 5.7x28mm, and the MP7 is 4.6x30mm.. Basically these rounds look like scaled down rifle rounds, and are ideal for zipping right through body armour.Jobarra wrote:

PKM by far. 2 hit kill most of the time, pretty accurate when zoomed
mg36 final
i tried using the mg36 today, it sucks lmfao, laided prone opened up on one lone guy facing away from me, fired off a whole clip hit him. ran over knifed him, died got the pkm went back and there he was again, 1 shot in the head and went on my merry way. i should of unlocked hte mp7 rather then the mg36 its shite
then u just suck really^ lol jm
I don't play Support much at all. I'm an accuracy man, and Support just dosn't deliver that.
The PKM is good. It can take down transports, Helicopters and sometimes even planes. The other one has a bit more accuracy which is good, but I just forget about accuracy when I'm playing Support and go for power.

I've not used Support much until recently, i'm now trying to get my Veteran Support Combat Badge (just need the 15 hours)
I've unlocked the PKM and the MG36 and found them both to be a huge improvement over the standard LMG's, they both have their advantages and disadvantages.
The PKM has a low rate of fire but to make up for this it does 45 damage for every round (compared to 25 for the M249 and Type-95, 30 for the MG36 and 35 for the RPK-74) Thats like having a fully automatic SVD or Type-88. It overheats quite quickly, but you shoould only really be using it in 3-4 round bursts at any sort of range. It's belt fed so the reload time is quite slow in comparison to the drum fed RPK-74 and Type-95 and the C-Mag fed MG36.
The MG36 has a decent ROF (600RPM - same as the RPK-74) and still has better damage than the M249 and Type-95. You can also fire full auto for pretty much the whole clip (something you shouldn't do anyway) before it overheats. It is very accurate compared to the other LMG's (twice as accurate as the others according to the BF2S Wiki) So in short bursts it should be as accurate as a G3, AK-101 or AK-47. The 3 rnd burst is also very useful for hitting longer range targets.
To answer everyones questions about the different rifle cartridges
The AK-101, M-16, M249, G36 weapons (MG36, G36C, G36E, G36K), QSZ-97, Type-95, F2000, L85A1, SCAR-L and M4 all use the 5,56x45 NATO round
The G3, M24 and SCAR-H all use the 7.62x51 NATO (.308 Winchester) round (but the SCAR-H can also use Russian 7.62x39)
The AK-74U and AK-47 use the 7.62x39 M43 Russian round
The RPK-74 uses the 5.45x39 round
The PKM and SVD use the 7.62x54R round
The Type-88 uses the 5.8x42 Chinese round
The M95 and M2HB (the guns on the Hummers, M1A2 Abrams and DPV's) use the .50 BMG round
The guns on the NJ2046 (Chinese Transport), FAV, Mi-17, Z-8, Type-98 (Chinese MBT) and T-90 are the Kord 12.7 which uses a 12.7x109 round (essentially a .50)
Correct me if i'm wrong and feel free to ask if i've missed anything but i think i got pretty much all of em
