For some unexplained reason, the PLA's loading music for BF2 went through my head when I saw this.GROTON, Conn. - Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., wants more submarines built more quickly. And that will mean adding more money to the $530 billion defense budget.

*GASP* we better do something about it quick!
I know, instead of paying troops more and upping VA benefits, lets keep dumping money into R&D for those MOABS and Bradleys and Ospreys and Comanches and...

Better to invest in big guns than education right. I mean, if we get far ahead this generation -- they only need to pull the trigger.Hunter/Jumper wrote:

Democrats start a lot of wars.
Don't get me wrong. I like submarines and all...but I think this request coming from a Democrat drips with irony.
Oh...and education does get a lot of money, but much of it is mismanaged and appropriated by top-heavy administration filled with suits all with their own little pet projects. Kinda sounds like the military now that I mention it, huh.

Ummm...yeah...because we all know Democrats are a bunch of pussies that don't like icky guns and want to leave our nation completely defenseless...or don't have an obligation like Republicans to bring home the bacon to their district...unnamednewbie13 wrote:

In this case its a little extra onto the regular $530 billion defense budget. This is NOT the Iraqi Occupation appropriations budget which is another $100 billion or so EXTRA per year for a war we don't need. The problem right now is the fact that the regular defense budget doesn't cover wear and tear from a war, where a lot of equipment needs replaced, and the Iraq Occupation budget is just covering contracts and direct war expenses. Lots of stuff from this war is going through the cracks while money just keeps going elsewhere. I won't even touch on VA care.
It's pretty sick all the way around, but this isn't even close to being a partisan problem.
Your sarcasm is noted, but unnecessary. The irony lies in the fact that, no matter the personal motivation, doubling production of military equipment is generally not a part of the Democratic platform. It's always entertaining to hear one suggest such when many others push for cuts in military spending instead.GorillaTicTacs wrote:

Hang on... one minute you're attacking them by saying they're not supporting the military and troops by cutting funding, now you're laughing at them for INCREASING funding?
The paradox is only a conflict between reality and your feeling what reality ought to be.
