Oh, but it is.
The premise of your OP is suggesting the U.S. let it happen.

Which may indeed by the case:

Assuming it's not, I'd say we beat the enemy quickly in battle, but lost the war of politics to the press and bleeding hearts.
Oh, but it isn`t - i wrote the thread and specifically wrote in the opening statement that it isn`t another conspiracy thread but a tribute to the few that have worked hard to get a few answers, and imho they receive the same shocking treatment as soldiers wounded in battle and thats a disgrace !

@Kmarion - The issue here is with all the background info the government had is:

*Why was there no warning ?
*How could they let this happend ?
*When the first plane hit tower 1, why didn`t the terror alarm sound throughout the country - tower 2coulhave begun evacuation much sooner !
*Why did all the precautions only go out to the top brass ?

I cant believe some of you dont see the need for a full invastigation around 9/11 !
Varegg I have always maintained there were failures and even an unwillingness to disclose information. The disgrace is not limited to a single party or administration, I guarantee that. In fact I'm pretty sure the Clinton administration was warned numerous times when they were continuing to cut intelligence spending. It is time to focus on prevention though.

Warning? Elaborate please. I remind you that every one of the hijackers were in this country legally.

Let it happen? Probably the same way the Brits let the subway bombings happen? Terrorist usually don't announce what they are going to do specifically before they do it.

How did everyone let all these happen?

  • 7 March 2006 - 2006 Varanasi bombings. An attack attributed to Lashkar-e-Toiba by Uttar Pradesh government officials, over 28 killed and over 100 injured, in a series of attacks in the Sankath Mochan Hanuman temple and Cantonment Railway Station in the Hindu holy city of Varanasi. Uttar Pradesh government officials.

  • 26 February 1993 - World Trade Center bombing. 6 killed.
  • 18 April 1983 - April 1983 U.S. Embassy bombing in Beirut, Lebanon. 63 killed.
This is just scratching the surface. The towers had been attacked before, no one had thought the towers would fall. I don't think there has been any actual test done in which planes full of jet fuel slam into the side of a 110 story building. Just listen to the audio of that day and you can hear the disbelief in everyone voice as the towers came down. When a nation is under attack of course the people who run the country (Top Brass) are going to be protected in every manner possible. This is to maintain the government and prevent anarchy. It is a crucial priority for the good of everyone. There has been improvements made since the attacks. We have passed laws that help all of our intelligence agencies better communicate with each other. We started the Department of Homeland Security.
  • Awareness -- Identify and understand threats, assess vulnerabilities, determine potential impacts and disseminate timely information to our homeland security partners and the American public.
  • Prevention — Detect, deter and mitigate threats to our homeland.
  • Protection — Safeguard our people and their freedoms, critical infrastructure, property and the economy of our Nation from acts of terrorism, natural disasters, or other emergencies.
  • Response — Lead, manage and coordinate the national response to acts of terrorism, natural disasters, or other emergencies.
  • Recovery — Lead national, state, local and private sector efforts to restore services and rebuild communities after acts of terrorism, natural disasters, or other emergencies.
  • Service — Serve the public effectively by facilitating lawful trade, travel and immigration.
  • Organizational Excellence — Value our most important resource, our people. Create a culture that promotes a common identity, innovation, mutual respect, accountability and teamwork to achieve efficiencies, effectiveness, and operational synergies.

I would list the specific improvement/changes but my post would be extremely long.
Feel free to browse around for yourself.

All good and valid points Kmarion but slightly off topic, you can`t deny the fact that every bit of information about the 9/11 incident have been released after enormous pressure from the families of those that lost their lives that day.

And when information have been leaked about the massive amount of solid warnings about specific events about to unfold i find it strange that the your government still keeps further information to themselves.

And don't you think its funny that they spend 100 million dollars on investigating Clinton and so far only have used 14 million dollars on the 9/11 commission ?

And i do appriciate your views Kmarion , dont get me wrong but as a European i dont freakin understand why americans dont push more to get all the information about 9/11 - are you really content with the fact that your own government cover and tries to cloud the facts in the case ?

The lack of proper investigation would never have been tolerated in a European country !

There are people that protest, organize rallies, and make movies with the same opinion you have.. Washington politics is cutthroat. If there was a way to place more blame on people it would happen. Either that or the blame takes down too many on both sides of the aisle. No one is granted a free pass (Well rarely).

It happened cause America has been persecuting the middle east for a few decades but was in denial :0

It was covered up cause the goverment knew of the plan, and wanted it to happen

Reason:
#1. Cause we NOW live in a world where any new laws(even civil laws) can be justified by                   claiming"terrorists!"
#2 Western Military spending went up. A lot.
#3 Foriegn military incursions are now "accepted" by the majority of Americans and western countries.
#4 US cultural onslaught worldwide can continue with little or no opposition.

......................I have seen several doco's here in Australia showing evidence that the Cia & the goverment actually planted bombs to increase the death toll...so that "any" measures taken later could be justified.

Sad and scary to think the powers that be are corrupt/complacent about death...but when outsiders look at America as a whole, goverment, corporation, the public...it seems like the culture is,  "get rich" then "defend your wealth with lies and violence "....

$$$$$$$..I think Americans as a whole has justified being rich for so long, that acts of selfishness and greed are widely accepted as normal/rational...even from the goverment(you gladly expect it from corporations)

The amount of links Bush & friends has to US corporations and middle eastern business and military should have made even the most docile citizen think "what the....!

The first "true" corporate goverment?

And thus the reality Cycle continues. Clinton did put forth an effort and at least got them talking. However,  it's kinda hard to focus on every problem the world has when you have two wars going on, hurricanes, an inherited recession, 9/11 attacks, and corporate scandals. My plan is simple, Israel needs to fall back to the pre-1967 borders . Hopefully this new government in Palestine can get a hold of the rouges out there also.

I couldn`t agree more, but sadly i`m afraid that will never happend.

Allthough off topic the Israelis where in the 50`s and 60`s complaining about how they where treated by the majority of the Palestinian population, wonder why since Palestine was overun by millions of Jews. 3 worldwide religions in the same confined area is bound to stir things up - that alone tells me there will never be true peace in Israel/Palestine
