One of my favorite website for war footage ( it's freewill to get there kiddies, you have been warned ) is www.liveleak.com.

Google, perhaps because it bought youtube, no longer indexes any of the content, effecting a sort of censorship.

Q; should Google be subject to some sort of equal access laws, or fair indexing standards? Or as a private company should they be able to block any content they want?

It seems to me that Google has a virtual monopoly on web searches. Nothing mandated, of course, it's just what everone uses.

Google can do whatever they want, but they should at least give them a reason as to why they are being censored, seems kind of unprofessional of Google.

If true, I guess that's not sticking to the "do no evil" motto entirely. (Not that it's really evil or good though.)

But it's within their prerogative to filter out what they do or don't index or display in results in the same manner as I can choose to leave this post, close it or obliterate it from *my* site.

Simply because they cornered the market doesn't mean they aren't still a company that wants to leverage their pseudo monopoly (see: Microsoft)

That isn't censorship. Censorship would be refusing to allow any links. You can;t demand they list it!!!

However, if their archiving process does this without any extra effort, and then they remove it, then it's censorship.

Theres a difference between refusing to do something at their own cost and effort they don't wwant to, and actively stopping something being listed they otherwise would.

Now where's Google's links for sites for building bombs, and kiddie p0rn .... what's the bet they are there .....
