This problem has already been fixed.  If you encounter this similar problem which seems to happen to some people after downloading and installing the latest Windows Updates, see this website for your fix, supplied by Scorpion0x17: Windows fix from Windows - It works!
So all of a sudden everytime I restart my laptop I get this lovely error:

If I zoom in, you can read the error window (click to enlarge):

So I'm like WTF?!  First off, yes I know Norton isn't the best, but as it's internet security, it's got everything in one bundle and at the moment, I don't feel like trying to figure out a better replacement for the whole suite.  I didn't know where to start, so I started with the C: drive Error Checking tool, you know the one that if you right click on C: drive, click properties, go to tools tab, it's the first one.  Tried to run that, it said some resources were being used, couldn't do a scan, and said did I want to schedule a scan when I restart.  Clicked yes.  Restarted.  It scanned.  I didn't sit around to see if it got anything, but I had automatically fix errors checked.  So when I log into Windows again, I still get the same message.

Now I go to Norton.  Downloaded updates.  Had to restart.  Then before scanning, did Run: msconfig, went to Startup tab, find this new thing is checked: NvCpl.  I'm like, "What's this?"  So I look it up:

ProcessLibrary.com wrote:

nvcpl.exe is a process which is registered as W32.SpyBot.S Worm. It takes advantage of the Windows LSASS vulnerability, which creates a buffer overflow and instigates your computer to shut down.
Well that's great.  So I unchecked it, clicked ok, had to restart.  Logged in, still got the error message.  Checked msconfig, it's still unchecked.

So now I'm currently running a full system scan via Norton, see if that turns anything up.  After that, I'm going to run Spybot S&D, followed by Ad-Aware SE Personal, and then do another C: drive Error Check.  Hopefully
after all this I'll have gotten rid of it.

I'll leave an update or two as I get all the scans done and restart and see if the message pops back up again.
Anyone have any comments/suggestions for my situation, or anyone else ever had this problem before?
(By the way, like my desktop background? )

Strange I'm fully updated and I have no error.  Isn't nvcpl.exe nVidia Control Panel?

Now that you mention it, I remember now: it automatically DL'd updates, so I installed, then had to restart, and when I did, that's when it first appeared.  Damn Windows.  Don't disappoint me now.

I don't know, that's why I looked it up.  See if you can find that out (will karma).

I'll try.  I'm almost certain I've seen it on my comp.  It makes sense that it would be nVidia Control Panel.

From a quick Google search, it would seem you are correct.  I'll keep digging.

I see that the nVidia Control Panel is in fact nvcplui for nVidia Control Panel User Interface.  You are right, it's some form of virus.

Where do you get this supposed "fix?"  Through Windows Update?  Or another site?  Link please!

Update: Norton Scan Complete, no errors (somehow it's never found anything, so either it's firewall is really good or it's detection really sucks).  Moving on to Spybot S&D.

You want to get rid of it?  Try starting up in Safe Mode and using a virus scanner, I recommend AVG.

Update: Spybot S&D had some hits, but I think nothing more than some ad cookies or whatever.  Going to restart and see if anything has changed.
