Ok, first of all, this has nothing to do with the recent EA account spurt.

For at least a couple of months now, whenever I load BF2 and try to load a server the first time, it will load, I'll click Join Game, then it will take ages, load one frame of the map, then I'll get chucked out with the message "Your connection to the server has been lost." If I try to load the server again, it will work absolutely fine, and won't appear again until the next time I load BF2.

Anybody know what's going on? Although it isn't that time consuming, it frustrates me a great deal...

I'm not running a Dual Core processor, so I doubt the above link would fix my problem? Thank you very much at any rate

Any other takers?

Possible profile issue? Try clearing cache in the My Document Folder if that fails remove the entire BF2 folder from “My Docs” and see if that has made a change to anything.

wow I had this problem ages ago- I thought it was a bug in the game it happened so regularly, but then one day it went away and never happened again.  No idea what was causing it, and yes im still on my original instal that I started with a year ago.

actually, have you mapped your ports through your router? (unless you dont have one)

I'll try the clearing the cache, and deleting the BF2 folder from My Documents later today when I go on.

Yeah, I'm on a D-Link DSL-504G router, but haven't mapped my ports yet. I wasn't aware you had to. What ports do you need to map? Can't say I've ever done it before, but I'm sure I know someone who has...

I had the same problem for over a year. Last week i bought a PCI LAN card and started to use that instead of the onboard LAN connection of my MB.
All the problems are gone and i can join every server i want.
