I'm a fan of the FG42...very interesting operating system. It used a closed bolt on single and an open bolt on full-auto. That thing had a wicked recoil though!
Other:
A V2 rocket on a stick
However when it comes to handheld weapons im with the FG42 for its combination of sniping abilities and assault rifle capabilities (full auto fire)
That would definately be my weapon of choice if i were forced to fight in WWII :p

as for my favorite WWII weapon? the venerable M1 Garand
you need to get close to use those weapons, and while you're trying to do that i could nail you from long range with a Maschinegewehr 42 that fires up to 1200 Rounds Per Minute and is the basis of modern heavy machine guns today. the MG3, M60 and M240 are all designed because of the MG42. it had a very high rate of fire, excellent range and very good stopping power, its range was about one mile. only drawback was it needed barrel changes often. This is one of my others. Heres my other other.mint-sauce-41 wrote:

Take some C4 and an MP5 anyday
The Panzerkampfwagen VI was one of the most successful tanks in the war. Sporting a 8.8 cm KwK 36 L/56 gun, the same gun used as flak batteries. It had a high KDR and excellent armor production. Although easy to take out because of its absolute shit road speed and manuverability it still struck fear into the hearts of allied tank crews and infantry.
*cough*17pdr could take it out frontally at 2,000m*cough*seymorebutts443 wrote:

Meh. I still like the Panther better. But, I wonder what would've happened if the Germans actually were able to get the Pz.VII 'Maus' and the E-Series tanks into full production.seymorebutts443 wrote:

Enfield No.4, best rifle of the war imho, very accurate and good rates of fire can be achieved with the right firing technique and practice. Bren comes a close second though...
Absolute destruction. Good armor combined with heavy firepower and mobility, and thats a recipe for destruction.acEofspadEs6313 wrote:

Garand is far better than the enfield. able to put 8 rounds into a target accuratly in a few seconds saved many lives in WW2.coke wrote:

Hmm, so many choices and so many favorites.
I like a lot, but on the options above I'm going with the M1 Carbine, closely followed by the M1 Garand. I hope to pick up a couple when I get my license. Also a big fan of the M1928A1 and M1A1 Thompson. For the Axis, I'm definetly going with the Walther PPK seeing how it is my favorite pistol.

I'm thinking that if they ever went into production, we'd just have to make some bigger guns to take them out. The Perishing would have been there to help, though the Maus would be one hell of an opponent. And if none of our tanks could have taken it out, there's always the Air Force to lend a helping hand.acEofspadEs6313 wrote:

stg
Sturmgewehr 44
Fucking Epic. though i have to be the devils advocate here. they should have developed the Me-262 more so it could have been deployed faster to deal with allied bombing runs on factories. then they would have been able to produce the cool tanks.acEofspadEs6313 wrote:

The M3 90mm on the Pershing was able to penetrate at 500m 221mm of armor at a 30 degree angle. The E-Series' Hull armor was 200mm at 60 degrees, and the turret was 240mm at 60 degrees. Unless you were able to get ridiculously close, you wouldn't be able to hurt it.CaptainMike wrote:

EDIT: That's with the M3 90mm using the best ammo they made, HVAP.

K98.
Side armour was 180mm and the rear armour was 160mm. As for most german tanks, the Allies tried to get a shot at the rear or the sides. Frontal armour is nearly always thicker. But yes, I do agree with you that the Perishing wouldn't have been the greatest help, but it was better than a Sherman.acEofspadEs6313 wrote:

Plus the british centurion tanks and their 20 pounder guns could probally take on a Maus.acEofspadEs6313 wrote:
