Yay WWII buff. I'm sorta like that.

My favorite is either the Gewehr 43, Sturmgewehr 44, or the Bren.

ill go with the thompson or the bar.
the thompson has kind of a rhythm to it, so it allows some pretty accurate full auto fire. and its a .45, gotta love that shit.
the bar is still used as a standard today (as is the M1), and its just a big fucking gun that can put out alot of fire power when needed.
both extremely fun to shoot.

hell ya, there isnt much recoil. it uses a pistol round and all the recoil is going into your shoulder.
one of the few guns that i feel can be fired accurately in full auto.

Bleh. I haven't shot one, but all of the ones I've seen being shot have had some nasty recoil.

i dont think the B.A.R. is used standard in the US military anymore... and they dont use the M1, they use the M14 now.....

and the thompson wasnt very accurate at long ranges.. but i guess if your clearing out bunkers, or ur in hedgerows, then its pretty accurate

your stance is one of the most important things when firing a full auto sub gun/assault rifle. you want to act like you have a bayonet on the end of your weapon and every time you fire you want to make the motion of stabbing your target. that way when you fire, you are already countering the recoil that naturally forces your barrel up.
the thompson has a pretty slow cyclic rate compared to say an mp5 or uzi, so that also allows for more control than normal, and the weight of the gun itself helps also. the thompson is one of my favorite guns to shoot, i can control that thing way better than the uzi or mp5.

but if you "stab" at the target, wont that have the same effect as flinching?

no the bar is not standard military today, but you can still purchase browning automatic rifles all over the place.

the M14 is an updated version of the M1.

the thompson uses pistol rounds so anyone that thinks it would be accurate at long ranges is mistaken. the accuracy i was referring to was in full auto.
do you know much about firearms?

flinching is when you still fear the recoil. once you overcome that hurdle then the "stabbing" works very well. its all about timing as to when you pull the trigger in your stabbing motion or lean.

i knew the M14 is the .308 caliber version of the 30-06 M1 Garand, the stock was made smaller on it and it had full auto capabilities

but i actually didnt kno the Thompson used pistol ammo, i thought i was just a modified .45 caliber or something... so it took the same ammo as the M1911

I went with the Garand. Sexy gun, accurate, sounds nice, and it's my favorite in most WWII games.
