Ummmm, im not making hackusations or anything but dont you need you basic knife combat badge to even make it to First Seargent? Have a look at this guy http://www.bf2s.com/player/43737120/ he is a Colonel and still hasn't got it, do you still get your promotion even if you dont have the required medals?
well I am a First Sergeant and I had to get the basic knife to get promoted. So ya thats kinda wierd.

First Sergeant and Master Sergeant are the same rank achieved at the same time with the same amount of points. You just get First Sergeant if you have all the badges. If you don't you get Master Sergeant. No real difference except the First Sergeants get commander preference...
