- The TRUE End to the Global Warming Debate
I've heard about CO2 for a long time now. It's only important if You're not hungry, dying from AIDS, dirty water or living under a dictaturship. Like Lomborg says. CO2 is an issue for rich westerners, isn't it?

CO2 is one of many global warming gasses and the manmade CO2 is under 1%. Where's the responsible logic when ppl are dying of starvation, AIDS, dirty water, torture etc.
I don't see it.
Edit: 20 years ago ppl were talking about a global iceage. It's so political. Bring forth the scientists pls.

there have been many periods of intense warming on earth, they are sun driven.
When you see a "Scary temperature graph" look a the scale and time line.
every generation thinks it lives in the "End of Days"

Fine, then lets do it so we aren't polluting our water systems, the air we breath, and the ground that we walk on and that in which plants grow. Now we get the best of both worlds. We are controlling pollution that IS doing damage and caused by us, as well as addressing much of the problems associated with global warming.Dezerteagal5 wrote:
Well. coming out of the mouth of usmarine2007 ill respect it, although, i still dont believe that its a man made problem. There are natural raises and cools in the earths climate, im pretty sure we're in the rising time.usmarine2007 wrote:

Weather.
There is no way in hell anyone can tell me that the earth's weather patterns are not the cause of all this "disturbing" data. Anyone who works in an industry where they read and try and predict weather, know damn well we do not know shit about it. I have been reading and trying to understand and predict weather for almost ten years now, and I am right only about 60% of the time. As for the experts, they are right about 80% of the time.
That is still not accurate enough to tell me that humans or weather is the cause of heating, cooling, floods, hurricanes, etc.
Until we can understand weather completely, there is no way it can be "ruled out" as a cause or the cause of anything.
Its just the fact that the media/gov has to blame something/someone always. It can never be nature.

The statosphere is currently cooling as the troposphere is warming, hence you can discount the sun from this raise in temperaure.Hunter/Jumper wrote:

What if global warming leads to reduced rainfall in your area, which leads to less water and food?Freke1 wrote:

As far as the 'we only contribute a small proportion of CO2 ' arguement goes, try this;
Get two mugs and three quarters fill one of them with water.
Now pour the water into the other cup, then add an extra drop of water.
Now pour the water back into the other cup, then add an extra drop of water.
Keep going till one mug overflows, then claim it wasn't the water you were adding that caused it because most of the water came from the other mug each time and you only contributed a single drop each time.
You are correct 1% is man made, however nearly 30% of air born CO2 is man made, air born CO2 is what matters not the CO2 stored km under the sea.Freke1 wrote:

did he really say " You can dicount the effect of the sun " ?
Nope, he was trying to say the sun's not causing the rise in temperature itself, it's not pumping out more radiation as we can see by looking at the cooling of the stratosphere. What is happening is more of the suns radiation is getting trapped in the lower atmosphere rather than escaping into space, hence warming.Hunter/Jumper wrote:

Can I ask what made you change your mind?CameronPoe wrote:
QFT. I have recently transferred from being 'OMFG! Man-made global warming!' to now erring slightly on the side of 'OMFG! Man-made global warming is probably bullshit!'. That doesn't make the need to develop alternative sources of energy any less pressing. Exhaustible resources eventually become just that: exhausted....Spearhead wrote:
Global warming is irrelevant, in my view. It's all about the way we use energy. Oil and coal supplies will run out eventually, and if we haven't made a nearly complete transformation over to hydrogen, or something else, we will be screwed. Every country in the world should be on its hands and knees trying to develop alternate fuels.
There is no proof to show it is not either. How does this end the debate???usmarine2007 wrote:

In science a fact is something that can be confirmed to a certain level of acceptance. Most everything we base our knowledge on is theory, or an "imperfect fact". Even the most accepted knowledge can be tough to duplicate in a controlled environment. Absolute certainty is a very rare phenomenon. This just means there has to be a point in which we find that a certain amount of evidence allows us to accept one theory over the other.usmarine2007 wrote:

Politicians throw the word fact around only to try and discourage those with a free mind to investigate the evidence themselves.

That was Jammed down my throat in the 1980s with the Same Vigor as the 1970s "Coming Ice Age. "
Aren't the Polar Ice caps Shrinking on Mars also? Whose doing that? is Rumsfield up there ? Is that where he went?
Someone should stop him !
