These kids weren't Emo. They predated the emo movement by about 6 years. They identified themselves as Goths, but the Goth kids disassociated themselves from them after the shooting.

no-one is saying its only in US schools however there seems to be a higher rate of homicide by fellow students in the US, with easy access to automatic weapons its even easier/likely for the kill ratio to be higher.
In the UK the main problem are knives. however someone will usually only manage to kill/injure 1. its a much slower weapon to wield on a large group, you can run from it, its more personal etc. and its also easier to react to for both police and passer by.
There has never been a school shooting in the US that involved an automatic weapon. Not to mention, they are not (your quote to the contrary) easy to come by.

indeed. such as statistics (i think its true in america as well as the UK) that whilst actual crime has fallen the coverage has shot up. we are much more aware of what is going around us, for good or bad. but bad sells better always.

Don't, actually. It's a terrible piece of [film, investagative journalism, documentary, other media here]. It has nothing to do with the shootings in Littleton.

You want some real anwers? Try this site:

http://www.state.co.us/columbine/

Download the pdf's and read them. It's everything you wanted to know about the shootings.

Be prepared, though. There are things in there that you may not want to know. Things that you may not be able to get out of your head.

In all honesty, I was more interested in how the public reacted to this tragedy than what actually transpired at the school.

Immediately after the killings, people tried to blame guns, video games, roleplaying games, music, and just about everything except general insanity for why this happened.

The simple truth of the matter is that one of these kids (Eric Harris) was a sociopath, and the other kid was a weak puppet of a teenager (Dylan Klebold).  Both of them had lousy as shit parents, but what else do you expect from white trash?

I find it discussing that Rammstein and id software were blamed for it even though it was clearly poor parenting. The kid's parent's were oblivious to all the signs, they didn't try find out what was wrong with the kids. To a scale Harris and Klebold were the victims, they were mistreated by everyone, and no one would help them and people ignored the fact that they were becoming borderline-psychotic. Many people tried to blame angry music and violent video games on this but the blame is really on the people with authority who failed to recognize and escalating problem.

Agreed. While music, violence on TV and in games may have had some influence on those guys' minds, it was ultimately the bullying that they suffered and that nobody or not enough effort was put in to reach out to them. It's just damn tragic that people don't quite learn except through the hard way. And even then, the lesson seems to enter through one ear and out the other. I can witness over 10 acts of bullying a day on the "different" people by the kids who have everything handed to them on a silver platter. Even then, they keep joking about "Oh he's gonna pull a Columbine and shoot us." and then laugh it off, completely ignoring the fact that there is a limit to how much one can tolerate any kind of abuse. It's frankly disgusting.

And it wasn't even primarily the bullying. I know people who've had it way worse, myself included, and never went that route. All the people in positions of responsibility ignored the screaming warning alarms and it seems they did so mainly to preserve their whole "happy perfect community" illusion. Hence the reaction in the wake of Columbine and the other shootings which wasn't to address the problem but to isolate and remove anyone who might even consider doing what they did. All about keeping the illusion intact.

thats not necessarily true thats a stupid argument to go on

By ur logic anyone listening to that type of music  should end up on the news as being one of the shooters.

USmarine....I bet you'd love to think it isnt just the good ol' US of A.. ,but the facts show that it is.....

....in america it has reach epedemic proportions and wont stop anytime soon(bullying or the revenge killing).

The earlier guy was completely right when he said that it was all the rich elitist culture pushed at society(even at the poor) causing excessive bullying...the pecking order introduced by america is mean-spirited,unfair and violent...

Thats why alot of countries dont like america..cause you guys are indifferent and justify crime against even your own people....just like the WW2 germans..its a little known fact that the germans killed thousands of other germans considered "not perfect"

Those guys at that highschool were defending themselves the way their society had tought them....no big surprise there. What did you expect, they'd just take it?....probably.

Your own society advocates guns as self defense and you, supposedly as a soldier use them to murder foreigners in THEIR homelands ...hypocrite

Im not talking the details,
no one has sympathy for the acts commited....

the fact remains that if bullying was keep in check, no kid would feel so isolated, so harassed, that they have to resort to violence to make a stand....

...and no, the actual bullies should have got their comeupance, but did they?...do they ever...victimisation leads to more victimisation, like violence to more violence...

its because we have more teen related shooting then anywhere in the world. We have like a huge chucnk of percentage where the rest of the world has small tiny percentages we discussed in my sociology class.

Excuse me, but guns and bullying have been around for a while.  Yet this shit did not happen when I was in school.  Nor did it happen when my parents were in school.  So why did it all of a sudden start to happen?  To blame guns is retarded.

Because the American culture is violent when I went to school there was so much bullying(kids were being mean to each other talking shit and stuff like trying to be tough and cool) this went all the way up to high school, then in college I have not noticed any bullying.

No, that did not answer the question.
