well you can do the glich type deal... where your commander, press the comand screen button.. get on a roof. and zoom in on you. jump off and hit the parachute button. and then the command screen button then like f10 or f11 for a desired view
what about if your not commander?
You mean 3rd person view, there isn't one. As far as I know, that is.
I think for the BattleRecorder files, you have to go to the "Community" tab after playing a round on a BattleRecorder running server, and from there download the demo file. After that, I think you move the file somewhere and then you can record it using Fraps if you're making a video, or just normal screenshot keys for images.
you can get one when you're in a parachute and while climbing ladders, but it'll go away when you're on solid ground
so, other than with Battlerecorder of the command glitch, you can't get a 3rd person view. That would suck though, as you don't have crosshairs, so i wouldn't advise it, however, you never know

Load BF2 go to community and there will be a list of Battle recorder bookmarks for you to select from. Quite often the files get deleted from the server not long after the game ends so you'll probably find most of them wont download. Also the server you're playing on has to be running Battle Recorder in the first place, you can filter for servers running battle recorder in the server browser.
After you've downloaded the battle recorder file you can play it back and use a free-view camera to see any view on the map for the entire round that the file recorded, which is how that guy got all the camera angles he did, you can also alter the playback speed and even pause it.
