Liberals are not interested in earning anything for themselves, they are only interested in sharing what you have earned, with them.

Other than that I love them.
I love it this whole paragraph, and   this sentence " Achievement and hard work are not rewarded in a liberal world."  is the only thing challenged. Must mean you can't really challenge the rest or what??

I could easily challenge it but I can't be bothered. You're describing a communist not a liberal for a start...

Wrong! Liberals & Socialists: work primarily for oneself and ones own good and secondarily for the common good of the collective (submitting a proportion of ones earnings into the common pot).

Liberals tend to lean toward Socialism, and Communism is a form of Socialism, your point?

And I could just as easily call you Hitler because you're Conservative and Conseratives lean toward Totalitarianism, and Fascism is a form of Totalitarianism.

yes, i have noticed this myself, example i would say that i am a socialist and i would understand if people thought that i was a bit extreme and i can imagne that i a lot of people would see my views as communist; and it is important for people to recognise the difference between the two ideologies.

Well, the conservative label has been put on me in this forum, if anything I am closest to libertarian. Anyway, conservatives lean more toward smaller govt. not bigger govt.

So liberals and socialists are pretty much the same. Yet, I am also being told in this same thread that socialism is a form of communism. Confusing ain't it??

No, Conservatism encourages greater social control.

Not if you actually knew what you were talking about.  One form of Socialist leaning state is the welfare state developed in Europe after WWII.

Yes.  Scholls are great places.  They teach people how to read good, and sometimes how to write good too.

Maybe you should find one?

Welfare state..Welfare as in.....GOVT. controlled handouts???

I would think you would need a pretty govt. to control all of that socialism. Or do the people on your planet, hand out willingly without being taxed for it??

Government funding isn't social control.  The definition of Liberal is left leaning: tends toward Anarchism, which is the absence of government.  Just because you don't like the terms, or you think a particular party is Liberal and use their actions to define Liberalism, doesn't allow you to change it.

See, this is where you and I have our rift bubbalo....I don't care what the text book definition is anymore. I would have voted for FDR and JFK all day long............. The liberals of today are NOT following the definition that you have spelled out.

AND........govt funding, IE taxpayer funded IS social control........If I have to go to on GOVT> mediccal coverage that is control..If I have t ocontribution to govt. retirement Social Security..THAT is govt. control.

But you don't get it...............

Liberalism is the left viewpoint.

Conservatism is the right viewpoint.

Therefore, the textbook definition doesn't change, what changes is who's in what camp.

They're all just labels. When you begin to use labels you begin to lose the fact that everyone is an individual and start to generalise. It's not very helpful to use labels, the term liberal has become bastardised and largely meaningless such is the extent of its mis-use.

OK, this I will concede.

Much like slang..............I follow the trends................and today, liberalism does not mean FREEDOM from govt!!
