"The governor of the Mexican state of Chihuahua has ordered that copies of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 be confiscated, according to a report on Spanish-language site El Diario.

Set in Juárez, Mexico, and El Paso, Texas, GRAW2 follows an elite combat unit battling Mexican rebels in the year 2014. Earlier this month, the mayor of Juárez, a city in Chihuahua on the Mexican-American border, criticized the game sharply, saying it instilled poor values and portrayed his town's people as violent.

According to the report, Chihuahua Governor José Reyes Baeza Terrazas considers the game an insult not only to the city of Juárez, but to the entire country. Currently, authorities are gathering information on where the game is being sold, reproduced, and distributed in preparation for a seizure campaign, El Diario reported.

As of press time, an Ubisoft representative had not responded to GameSpot's request for comment. "

No offense to Mexico, but no wonder so many people are leaving. Their politicians spend more time banning video games than trying to fix the economy.

Actually, I heard that Ubisoft was visiting casinos and resorts in Las Vegas, and they were banned from several of them by the managers lol

Wow, people really take video games seriously now days. I'd be MORE apt to visit a place that I've seen in a video game. I'd keep seeing the stairs through a scope, though.

Yeah, I know what you mean. When I went to Europe I visited Bastogne and Foy I wouldn't have known much about them if it wasn't for Call of Duty and Band of Brothers.

Whats even more dumb is that by banning GRAW2 in Mexico, they will be increasing hype in the states so even more people will buy it.

Chinchillas come from the Andes Mountains...located in South America. Mexico is part of North America.

Hey! I'm not a little old rich person. I own a chihuahua, I used to hate them too until I got one. It's one of the best dogs I have ever had.

Edit to stay on topic: I think it's a bit ridiculous that the governor of Chihuahua would try to take away freedoms such as playing video games.

*sigh* Since we've gotten completely off topic anyway, I've been to Acapulco. It's pretty damn nice. Went on a tour around the bay, and saw a ray jump in and out of the water. Didn't get to use any of my 1337 Spanish skills there, though. It seems that the older you are, the more likely you are to speak English. Oh, and if you ever do go to Acapulco (or Cancun, or any other coastal Mexican city, for that matter) be prepared to be taken in by some people trying to sell timeshares. I guarantee you'll probably have to spend at least one whole day negotiating terms with the company.
