My menus suddenly started to be slow, like when I press esc in game it loads the menu, but when I try to press esc again to get back into the game, sometimes it doesn't "register" my esc press so I need to press esc again, then it recognizes the press but also the first press so I get back thrown into the menu. This is solved only by quit or disconnect. Also disconnecting and quitting takes lots of time.

I scanned my computer to remove spyware and such and defragged, but didn't help.

Argh I hate that!

Playing Bf2 or Bf2142 I press esc and it doesn't register, most of the time i press it by acciednt and it registers!

Sometimes i accidentally press it, it takes forever to load, than I press esc again to cancel it, which makes it even slower, i keep pressing and i eventually give up and restart.

Yeah - it annoys me too.

I don't know if it's correct ( I guess your problem is a bit worse as mine, I think mine's normal ) I just let the menu load out untill the grain is gone ( that's around two to five seconds ). And after that I press ESC again and it just normally goes back.

Your problem seems annoying though..

Yeah, when I quit the game the menu music is still playing and I can't press anything for while and then my computer makes those "thund" noises few times, then my computer is slow and I need to wait again a while until I can do anything. It's odd because I got pretty good computer and GFX.

Yeah. I have a great computer, all the good specs, yadda yadda. But I have that everytime I quit Bf2 or 2142. The music is still playing, and my computer lags so much, you click on something and it takes ages to register.
