I think they should do a public execution and let the BBC televise it live.

It just might wake up the euros.

Nothing good can come from this for Iran.  They need to release them asap, but they won't because they're trying to flex their muscles.

A close second to the guy from some other thread who's desperate for another terrorist attack to happen in the US when the Dem's are in power so he can have bragging privileges and scream "I told you so" to anyone who voted for that government.

Yeah -- i forget how the democrats conspired in the apprehension of the British personnel -- and how they can do much of anything with regards to a country where we don't have direct Diplomatic relations since 1979.

Yeah nice one ace you should crack that crystal ball and drink the contents i think it might help in terms of increasing the accuracy of your divination.

The prisoners are in Tehran now. . . .

Its going to be almost/near impossible to rescue those men and women in their capital city.  Too much security, and the risk of all out war as a result is too great (even though I bet plans for a rescue have been drawn up). . .

I was just talking to a client of mine who is Persian, and he said that Iran is going to try and get concessions from the UK.  They want to embarass them, and basically punish them for capturing so many Iranian agents in the south of Iraq.  Its a total political move that could lead to major military moves if things get worse.

I think if the Iranians were smart (which they have the power to be) they should release them (prisoners) without anymore incident.  However, that is wishful thinking, and Iran has no plans on releasing Westerners without picking up something in return.

Personally, I love the Brits and want/pray for their safe return.  I will be totally pissed/irate if they fuck with our English allies in any way shape or form. . . .

What would be the best thing to do? Assign old Ahmadinejad some reading. Due for Monday, March 25th, 2007, he must have read these two pages:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGM-30_Minuteman
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trident_missile

Quiz Monday.

Yup. And I heard the Germans, or at least the guy representing Germany in Brussels, are backing England in the release of the soldiers.

Its very disturbing.  As much as i disagree with UK and US troops being in Iraq i want them all to get back to their families safely.  For someone to want the death of civilians or soldiers just doing their job so that they can force their political agenda on people sounds exactly like the kind of people the war on terror is targeted at.

Lets face it people Iran is simply playing the part it has been playing for the most part of its history since the fall of the Safavid Dynasty. Western powers influence its internal pushes for establishment in the world stage while at the same time exploiting its position noted for its strategic importance during the fighting of the great wars that have covered the entire continent, and even more so today due to its position relative to both the Persian Gulf and Caspian Sea. This of course, relates to Iran's possession of the second largest oil reserves in the region and second largest liquid natural gas reserves in the world.

Iran ---> Push for establishment catalyzed by US removal of threats from both Afghanistan and Iraq = Breathing room < ------ US now pushing back and stopping any attempts to allow Iran to disturb the distribution of power.

Yeah -- granted the current illustration is being played out by British personnel, but alas one does not too look to far back in history to realize the bleak views held towards the British involvement in the region I.E. AIOC -- Anglo-Iranian Oil Company
