Okay, I'll try this one last time....very slowly.
You say air power is more important than logistics.
Can a plane affect any battle:
without fuel?
without oil?
without ammunition?
without spare parts?
without a crew?
All of those things, every last one of them, reached the aircraft, through logistics.
Without a through and detailed supply chain, your coveted aircraft accomplish nothing more than slowly rotting on the tarmac.
Without a logistical chain, there would have been no D-Day, as the ships would have no fuel, the men would all have starved to death, and the aircraft wouldn't have flown.
Without logistics, in time of war, or peace, nothing happens. A tank can't move, a plane can't fly, a soldier cannot fight, without an extensive logistical chain in place to support them. That is why logistics, beyond all the other listed options, was, and is, the most important aspect of any confrontation, because without logistics, it is impossible for anything else.
None in this thread have questioned the importance of logistics and we all know that logistics played a part in this and other conflicts but the debate concerns what tactics won the war !
Yes i agree if you take away logistics the rest will fall but that is not the debate is it ?
What factor was the one that turned the tide of the war ?
*Both the Axis and the Allies had logitics and resupplied their troops, and when logistics failed so did most campaigns thus the commanders didn`t fully understand it`s importance as we do !
*The German blitzkrieg was build on a short and explosive campaign where logistics wasn`t such a big factor as the shere force and surprice of the attack and the use of advanced air tactics was crucial for the operation to prevale!
*The Battle of Britain exhausted the German airpower to the extent where the other theaters had no aircoverage and resulted in trenchline warfare similar to the battles of WW1.
*If you followed the two capaignes the US has done in Iraq and Kuwait you clearly see the difference in how logistics are being handled in difference to how it was in WW2, where the supply trucks almost kisses the ass of the frontline, but still the use of airtactics is a major factor.
And for childish arguments sake, what is the use of bullets, tanks, oil, guns and all other supplies if you have none to use it. None can function without the other but that wasn`t the debate !
And as i have stated before i dont say logistics wasn`t important during WW2 but the use of airtactics was the factor that tipped the scale in allied favor !
