Ok, so apparently:
1. All governments should be able to declare war. Or maybe not declare it, just go into it.
2. Once said war is started, it must not be stopped for any reason.
3. All who are in favor of stopping said war shall be smited with the stick of "we-have-to-win-no-matter-what-the-cost".

you cons are right. Bush fucked Iraq six ways from sunday, so he needs to stay and wipe up the mess. Bush dragged Iraq into the 'war on terror' so he should have to drag it back out. the only problem is Bush and Cheney don't do jack shit, they sit in their air conditioned fucking offices, pressing buttons and talking on the phone. It's some poor bastard from Arkansas or Louisiana that does all the killing and the dying. our soldiers can't make democracy in Iraq, they can build schools and post offices, and guard oil fields, but democracy they can't do. that task falls to the Iraqis. they have to want it and be willing to die for it.
You fucking people still talk about this war like it's something that can be won, like a game. what are we gunna do? Kill every single terrorist and insurgent in Iraq? In the world? Make every shit-kicking, third world country a democracy? will that solve all our airplane-on-skyscraper problems?

Ah, where to start.
Shorter Dezerteagal5: I want more Americans to die in another terrorist attack so I can scream "I told ya so" at librulz.
Heard it before. Repulsive the first time, repulsive now. Listen to yourself for a minute. You want your fellow citizens to die so you can score points against political opposites. I don't give a shit how "angry" you are, you make me want to puke and I can't tell if it's from your sick desire to see people die so you can shout "Nyah nyah!" or your rank hypocrisy. Actually, wars are won. That's the way it works. There are winners and losers. IE WWII.. Axis =loss / Allies= Win. It would be great if every country out there were a democracy. It is proved that countries with similar or the same governments go to war much less with each other than with those governments that are nothing alike.

THERE IS NO ENEMY IN IRAQ.
That is why this war is not worth fighting. We are now fighting nothing. "insurgets" are not enemies... they can't be defeated because they are not organized. A guy with a RPG is not something that can be defeated... he can be killed, sure... but there is not strategic plan of action that can eliminate the threat.
The US needs to get out of Iraq.
If your problem is with Al-Quaeda, then let's go after them. I'm not a pacifist, and I think a war is fine where a war NEEDS to be waged. There is no point in Iraq.
There IS a reason to be in Afghanistan.

have we gained anything in Iraq since 2003? yeah, and back here on fucking earth we've got reality to deal with. Your notion that the war on terror will someday be over and there will be a winner and a loser is both inane and frightening. It's the response you would expect from a small child, and even worse, it's the simplistic answer you would give a child. if this is what the conservative goal is we are screwed. Suggesting that someday the terrorists will all be dead or have surrendered and that terrorism will cease to exist is like saying someday we will objectively win the war on drugs. drugs will cease to exist, no one will make them, sell them or use them.DBBrinson1 wrote:

This is a stupid debate. Anyone who says that their political opponents are helping the enemy is, in fact, helping the enemy, by helping dent the democracy they are so 'proud' of.
The paradox is only a conflict between reality and your feeling what reality ought to be.

If we leave, we fail. I hate being here but I have a commitment to follow.
When we leave this government will get ousted and Iran will swallow it whole.

Very likely. My concern is finding an exit strategy that doesn't leave a wake of ethnic cleansing and genocide upon our withdrawal. We say that the government is getting stronger (which is what is required for us to get out) but we send more troops in. Sounds a bit backwards to me. At this point it is hard just to an accurate account of progress.Bubbalo wrote:
