I don't know about you, but in the US, nothing new seems to be getting done because the Republicans are the same as the Democrats basically. Until election time, there's no competition between the two for teh best policies.

I think it needs to be more partisan. This would encourage competition for best policy, in the same way companies compete for the best and cheapest products.

I would argue that gridlock is generally the best stage of governmental policy, because it typically keeps the government from spending so much money.

The problem right now is that we're stuck in a war that will soon no longer have funding.  This may get us out of Iraq, but it's also going to make our soldiers in Iraq suffer in the short run.

It's more Congress vs the President now. I would like to see more Congressman vote for their constituents rather than their party though.
