- A little light reading for the tree huggers out there.
I've never cared for hybrids. Then again, I don't care for Psions or Hummers either.
Mazda FTW!

odd source
I really want to post a LOL pix right now.

The Prius is an overpriced toy for lip-service environmentalists and trustifarians who want to show off to their friends while pretending to actually give a crap about the environment. "Look, it's a hybrid, isn't it cool?", meanwhile driving everywhere when they could easily be walking/bicycling except when necessary. It's how a fair-weather lefty justifies their desire for a constantly climate-controlled surround-sounded near-zero-exertion environment.
AHAHAHAHA what a piece of crap, i should have listened to jeremy clarkson when he said the prius was crap, so that means its safe to continue driving my 1972 Galaxie!!!
Personally, the author took a weird angle at analyzing the part by part cost of pollution for the hybrid battery, but could one not simply apply a part by part breakdown of pollution cost for each individual parts inside the Hummer -- the resulting being it costing more? (possibly)
Not only that we were not given a reason as to why the Hummer cost less outside of the author telling us it cost less.

Seriously, we bought this Altima used about three years ago and have only had to do maintenance on it recently, brake pads needed replacing. Other than that it runs like a dream, gets fantastic gas mileage. Although if gas prices keep going up like they have been, we may be walking a hell of a lot more than we all ready do.

Never really found an liking for hybrids or Hummers. Both intrigued me a bit though.
I'll stick to my gash on side, scraped bumper + fender, stained seat 97' or 98' Nissan Altima thats got 120,000+ mileage. It runs decently, gets a decent mileage, and basically is a decent car. (Although I'll need to change the oil soon)
Interesting though. I would have always thought that the Prius (or Hybrids in general) would've been more beneficial to the environment.

I guess biofuel cars are the best way to go.
This is childish, the fact that people have to try and make the environmentalists look bad and then say they're trying to help the environment.

But then again here's an example of a very environmentally friendly hybrid car.

Rofl the Prius sucked anyway. Good thing there's still biofuel. Treehugger FTW. (Psst... Lowing.. actually all of us treehuggers already knew the Prius sucked )

I`ll get this confirmed from a couple of souces and get back to you, would truly hurt my enviromental heart if this checks out to be true as i am an Prius fanlowing wrote:

Irony sucks don't it?

Well that explains why our troops aren't rollin on bustas, bustin caps from Priuses.
I got a LOL from your spelling of Scion, it's gonna be a good day today.Turquoise wrote:

It's seeing articles like this that make me feel better arguing with the environmentalist kids in school today.
I now have appropriate means to win the debate. Thanks.

I guess I speak for many tree-huggers then...

Allrighty then, seing as none of the claims in that article is documentet i really dont have to do the same to counter any of its calculations or claims but i would like to point out a few clear mistakes.
*Toyota Prius is the winner of ADAC`s eco-test twice
*With 89/90 votes elected Europes most enviromental car by ADAC.
*Top rated as the most enviromental car 2004/2005 by VCD in Germany
*The battery in the Prius is btw 100% recycleable !
*CNW Marketing claims the life span of a Hybrid car is 100.000 miles, where do they get that number from, it can easily drive 300.000 miles witch is the number given for the hummer and that is what the hole calculation of the Prius vs the Hummer in this article is based on - not research but a claim and a bad one in addition.
*The Sudbury plant where the nickel for the batteries is produced, claimed in the article to be where they tested NASA`s moon rovers ?
http://archive.xstrata.com/falconbridge … ibrary.htm
And about CNW Marketing you can visit their website and order any research you want witch can be handy when you are loosing market shares to a foreign company like Toyota.
CNW Market : http://www.cnwmr.com/door/
And last but not least at the end of the article it is mentioned another car by Toyota, this is a standard way to increase credibillity by the author so it doesn`t look like a smear campaign.
Think this is enough to counter an poorly researched article based on research you can buy of a website !

Here is a recent picture of the Sudbury plant. The Recorder wrote:

Again of the chart, in comparrison the cost of building the Prius equals most cars of the same size, so again total BS from the author. The Reporter wrote:
One last fun fact for you: it takes five years to offset the premium price of a Prius. Meaning, you have to wait 60 months to save any money over a non-hybrid car because of lower gas expenses.

I think I'll avoid a Hummer as it won't fit down my road.SEREMAKER wrote:

I'll stick with Hummer ( I wish they still made H1 )

If only that was a prius under there
Varegg summed it up nicely. Just because it says so on the Internets doesn't make it true.
Just by reading the article and the style it was written in you can see that its BS.

shit the hummer is an ugly car. do any of you remember when they got the bright idea to use unleaded gasoline in cars, and the car manufacturers said that the engines couldn't take it, but they were wrong.
