Hey guys, i am fed up with my current pc and its constant crashes to the blue screen of death and the smell of smoke and sound of rattlin fans when i switch the dam thing on, so basically i want to build my own rig for gaming and editing video's etc. Im nearly eighteen and am into media studies, am lookin for a high spec pc tht will last long without the need for constant upgrading. I have been saving up for a long time now, and will recieve a fair bit of money in bonds as soon as i am 18.

I have been lookin on overclockers uk and have considered buyin the following things to construct myself at home with a few computer literate mates, can any of u lot tell me an compatibility issues, recommendations etc etc etc of the stuff in the links below and also any changes which might bring the price down, after all i do need money for a social life outside of been a nerd lol . I really dont now much bout compatibility parts and prices atm so need some clever peeps to advise me on prices etc.

The only thing you may reconsider is the single raptor. You could get two larger drives and run it in Raid 0 and out perform them for around the same price.

I wouldn't get that mouse, I would get maybe a Razer Copperhead or a Logitech G5 or MX518. 8800 GTX graphics card owns, G15 owns. Well, it looks better than my comp.

You could opt for a lesser C2D and just overclock it a bit. The core 2's are highly reliable and efficient when it comes to overclocking. I did not see your heat sink in your specs. Make sure you add one.

I would maybe go for a non-intel mobo, and get XP instead of Vista, But thats just my preferance. There would probably not be much difference.

I've only seen one reveiw of the 900 case but it was quite favourable.  The rest of the equipment looks top notch,

Having said that, I do wonder why you've gone for the e6600 processor.  The e6700 is the top one excluding the silly-money extreme processors whereas the e6300 is the one the over-clockers )not to be confused with the re-seller you'vr gone for  scan.co.uk and savastore.co.uk might be worth checking out as well.  Personally I've had bad service from Scan but their prices tend to be the lowest.
I'd recommend one of these

Much, much cheaper and a brilliant heatsink.

Ratings out of 5. 1 is worst, 5 is best.

Monitor = 5
OS = 5
Mouse = 4
Keyboard = 5
PSU = 4
Motherboard = 3
Case = 2
RAM = 4
CPU = 5
HD1 = 5
HD2 (Gaming) = 5
DVD-RW = 5
Video = 4

I'd wait for the R600 if you can afford that sort of rig. Hence the low motherboard rating also.

It all really depends on what you plan to do with this rig. If you want to overclock, I would definately change the motherboard to a p5b deluxe, as it will allow for around 3.6ghz overclocking on air - its fsb will go higher than bfg's.

If you are willing to spend as much money as its coming to, and overclock,  I would get a good air cooler:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu … subcat=821

or http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu … =HS-027-TR

Also, RAM for overclocking a 6600 - your best bet would be

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu … subcat=813

as it can take 1100 no problem.

Don't get the BFG 680i board. DO get a 680i board (great for overclocking), but not the BFG one, which is the worst of the bunch.

Although the 6600 does cost considerably more, it overclocks much better due to the higher multiplier. The only reason for going for 6300 would be budget, and he's clearly not building a budget system.

if youre buying in UK use aria.co.uk for parts.  Reliable next day delivery and probably cheaper too.  You have to build it yourself though unless you want to wait a couple more days.

Worse FSB tolerance though and you get more performance from the FSB than from the multiplier. I've seen better overclocking results using 6300s than I have with 6600s.
