These really grind my gears. Many groups, whether it be for races, sexual orientation, or any other organization that claims to be seeking a redress of something done wrong to them always seperate themselves from the norm. The NAACP for example, uses the influence it has to, as the name suggests, advance the colored people toward full social equality, which was a lofty goal when the organization was established. However, still today the group is still seperate from society. Why is it that groups wanting "in" on the equality shared by others seem to more often than not, insist on being a seperate entity from those it wishes to join? I don't know how debatable a topic this is, it was just some backlog I thought of during the days without D&ST .
Go go affirmative action! Heaven forbid it target an issue rather than a group affected by it...
The sqeaky wheel gets the grease.
