Well, It seems to me you are setting your goal a bit high for a kid in school.
I have two children so I have to be careful how much money I spend. However, I just got a new puter for around $600.00.
I was lucky enough to have tax returns to buy it with but $500-$600 is easier to come by rather than thousands.
My system is not the best out there but it runs bf2 like it's nothing.
Here is what I did:
I bought a bare bones kit. I used my existing hdd, ram, and monitor.
Here is what I purchased:
ATX case w/ 500w power supply
Asus A8N-SLI Premium mobo
2X 1gb pc3200 DDR 400mhz RAM
AMD Athlon 64 4000+ 2.4ghz
Heat-sink and fan
geforce 7300 512mb
I am only running my ram @ 333mhz but I am using my 1gb from my old puter so I have 3gb for now.
As for how to get the money... well, a job would be a great idea. If the state you live in has a deposit on pop bottles, you can go around asking people if you can have theirs. Sounds silly but you'd be surprised how many people hate to return bottles and would be happy to give them away.
Please don't sell drugs or your body for a computer... trust me... not worth it! I did it as a youngster and all I have to show for it is a non-working TRS-80. LOL

As suggested before (probably joking) you can sell you plasma. It sounds scary but I have been doing it for years. It doesn't hurt your body, and apparently its regenerates in less than 24 hours. It takes about 30 mins to do it and of course it doesn't hurt. You can get decent $$ and also you are helping people that need help. It sounds stupid but I feel good doing it. And the 100 - 150 a month doesn't hurt my feelings either

You know, you remove some viruses and some spyware, uninstall some stupid porn shit that people always have on their computers, delete some icons from desktop and you pretend that it takes 5 hours to do it (but you charge for only 4 wink wink).
