Wow, I'm surprised Polk is that high up on the list and that GWB is higher up than GHWB. However, I also have a few qualms with the list presented.

BUSH.  The polling should be in indicator.  Only Truman got worse polling than Bush when he hit 22% approval rating in 1952.  But imagine if Truman had the scare tactics Bush used...Truman would have never hit below 30 if he had a DHS and a FOX noise channel working for him.

Nixon would be the second worse IMO.  Talk about a sack of shit.

One example out of a seemingly endless reservoir of examples (if i acted like this I'd expect to be thought of as an idiot)

I think I'd probably get on okay with George on a human one to one level if I did meet him, he does seem like a personable guy and has a comical self awareness of his own amusing mishaps. I seen him in a documentary following him prior to his election and he actually seemed like a funny guy. It's his foreign policies that I dislike.
You know, you just showed a reel of a man that gives 300 - 400 speeches a year. Are you really that surprised that you can find all those gaffs? Hell, if the media was as pervasive throughout American history as it is today, every president would have a gaff reel like that. 20 years ago, there was no way to publish it.

My point is that you have know idea what his level of intelligence is. You disagree with his policies. Why can't you just say that? Why resort to the third-grade mentality of name calling? You're supposed to be an adult, for crying out loud! How about you act like it?

I would challenge everyone here to provide me with proof that Bush is an idiot. If it's convincing, I'll change my stance. If its bollocks, I'll drive/fly over to your house and teabag you whilst you sleep.

Bush, no contest. USA has had a lot of dumb wits running the place, but none of them were stupid enough to start a war over fucking oil, rig the elections twice and expect the world to believe the cover stories... Bush takes the grand prize!

I challenge you, Tiger, directly. You must prove to me, beyond a reasonable doubt (since that's the standard of guilt here in the US), that:

a. President Bush started a war over oil,
b. President Bush rigged his first election, and
c. President Bush rigged his second election.

I can pay a retarted monkey with banannas to pound out the drivel that you blindly spurt forth as fact. I challenge you to defend your statements.

In the modern era, Jimmy Carter for sure, no argument. . . .not even a question that he was the worst president of the modern era. . .one could say JFK as well!! Just cause he was assassinated doesnt mean he was all that great!!

Those who said George W. Bush is the worst, can kiss my dick. . . .just because you are liberal and dont like what he has done doesnt make him the worst!! I hate Bill Clinton, but I never would say he was the worst president, not even close!!

I am from Germany and I don't know all of your presidents, so I'll try to tell you who were the least liked presidents here over the last 100 years. The first is - what a surprise - G.W. Bush. His actions led to great protests in Europe - especially because of the American engagement in Iraq.
The other president who caused massive protests was John F Kennedy. On the one hand the Vietnam war started while he was president (afaik), and on the other hand he was the guy who brought the world as close to a nuclear war as it never was again.

Worst Canadian prime ministers:

The worst = Pierre E. Trudeau (1968-79, 80-84), the heartless tyrant who invaded Quebec in 1970 and robbed Alberta in the early 80s
.
Second worst = Jean Chretien (1993-2004), nearly 12 years in office with nothing to show for it except extreme corruption.
Heartless tyrant who invaded Quebec? The French speaking communist sepearatist scum of Quebec were kidnapping and killing government and foreign officials. We sure as hell could use a Trudeau up here, Brazil is in desperate need of strong leadership...

well dont forget that not everyone here is from america and "old enough" to know exactly what other presidents did.
when i started to get interested in politics, clinton was the president. so i only know those 2 in "detail".
the history of the usa isnt a thing u learn in germany in the school for example and i see no reason why it should be.
on the other hand, many ppl forget fast and they see only the bad things that happen right now.

First of all, not every voting American citizen voted for Bush nor Clinton. Why do I emphasize "voting?" Because many of us Americans take our right to vote for granted, thinking "Oh well, one vote doesn't really count for anything." We, the people of the USA do not directly vote our president. The Electoral College does. Just one vote more for one candidate over another means that the winning candidate gets all the electoral votes in that state. So if the tallies were 1000 - 1001, the one with 1001 will get all the votes of that particular state. So to judge a nation's population based off of who the leader is possibly one of the most idiotic things anyone can do. Try learning about how a president is elected before you spew this crap.

Second, try to find out what our presidents had done. Not only the bad things that we/you/all of us develop our opinions from. Sure, Bush and Clinton did some stupid things, but how about the good things they've done?

What's the point in having a poll if you're just going to dismiss the result on the grounds of your own personal opinions about why the people may have voted in such a way?
He was calling people out. It is common knowledge that Americans don't exactly know their history like the back of their hand, and vote based purely on opinion.
Every time you ask someone to make a judgement call, such as voting on a favourite or worst person, you're asking for their OPINION.  That's what this poll is, that's what every poll is.  If you don't want opinions, don't make polls.

this poll is silly cause GW Bush completely biases the poll.  people will react based on curent affairs without taking history into account.  Nixon send many more men to die in Vietnam (75K) vs. bush (3k) in iraq...yet bush is much worse than nixon?  also why is carter not on the list...he was horrible on economic and foreign policy?  or truman who dropped atomic bombs killing over 400k?

this type of poll is only relevant if the participants are historians who are able to compartamentalize their feelings and consider all scenarios individually.  otherwise we're just wasting everybody's time with this poll...you want to make a case for bush being the worst president ever?  do so in 20 years...not now....that's just silly (take psych 101 if you don't get it).

Carter had a chance to show the islamic world never ever mess with the US and blew it.

Now they think "thought" they can get away with murder.

Iraq thought just because the UN doesnt mind violations of a 17 UN resolutions and a cease fire, the US wouldnt either.
