I voted N. Korean nukes. Although I would have to say I am equally concerned over Iran as both countries have a deep hatred fr the U.S.. Global Warming also catches my quit often, and seeings how it is someone that the "common citizen" can "do his part" I have taken numerous steps to reduce my carbon footprint.
THe rise of China,
they are spending to much on armed forces, they are building on something.
they are the last ones delivering large amounts of weapons to africa in return for their oil.

china scares me
Global Warming.
...I can't swim.
...I can't swim.
Although it would be easier for Iran to do something with a nuke, N. Korea HAS the technology. Their hatred for the U.S. is much deeper, and they really are quit secretive in their "personal affairs". The determination of many organizations that dislike the U.S. would suggest that a N. Korean nuke "could" make it to U.S. soil. By no means are our borders or ports 100% secure. If Iran was at the same position as N. Korea in their nuclear ambitions, I would definitely be more worried then I am right now. BTW, I live fairly close to NYC, and would be in a fallout region if the weather decided.

Yeah - Compulsory swimming lessons in school from Grade 1-7. From then on you should be able to swim. But I never passed stage 3 swimming, which is pretty low.cyborg_ninja-117 wrote:
Isn't it a law for all Australians to swim? Don't they like teach it at school? That's how I remembered it. The Dutch would be fucked coz of global warming.Macca wrote:

Oil pricing:
It's the only one that affect me on a day to day basis. Yeah all the others have indirect effects and some are worrying (china, korea and GW mostly) but I'm self centred and don't give a rats arse about most things because they don't cost me money!

I worry about issues such as "Global Warming" that can affect us all instead of just 1 country.

Now I'm just waiting for the "Global Warming doesn't exist" posts.
Edit: Oops, bit too late on that mark ^^^

And we can't even predict the weather 10 days out. How can anyone honestly predict anything in relation to our climate? Global warming science is one big, fat guess with a bunch of scaremongering mixed in.cyborg_ninja-117 wrote:
NK can't do shit. But I worry more about Iran.

Remember, we don't have a standardised national curriculum.................yet.
Also, what kind of idiot is scared of North Korean nukes? North Korean WMDs, maybe, but their nukes couldn't do much.
I'm suprised that global warming is garnering so many votes. I personally get the impression that many Americans are still divided on even whether or not global warming is a man-caused phenomenon - hence my surprise.
What is not so surprising to me, and part of what I wanted to prove is that the Iraq war and the Afghanistan war haven't, as yet, garnered a single vote between them. As the media shys away from a dead-end debacle and inevitable failure in both countries what has come to the forefront of public attention are the medias next hype-topics - global warming, Iran and North Korea.
My how the attention span of the public is short. You'll all have forgotten about the mess in Iraq when the US has convinced everyone, via the media, that Iran needs to be pre-emptively bombed on behalf of state terrorists Israel and the 'war on terror'.

Global warming. Its happening and its going to affect my kids.
Doesn't matter if its man made or what. Some people/nations argue that its nature's fault as if this means it can be ignored.

i would have put WMD's instead of specific cases but aside from that this is a really great poll and its interesting to see the results. my vote: global warming ftw
Personally,
If one were to focus on a Global issue that has a wide area of impact to global economies and security, Global warming, would take the cake. Our inability to live "with" the environment and isolation from it has ultimately paved the way for future wars over resources that are without a doubt finite.
The rest of the listed conflicts, IMO, don't have as great of an impact, rather potential impact as that of Global warming.

I find it very reassuring (and a little suprising) that pretty much everyone seems to recogise the importance of tackling global warming.
I also find it odd that Iran is rated as such a danger - but then I suppose that's all down to the media hype.

I am not surprised at all. It is the flavor of the month.Bertster7 wrote:
