New Cockpit Build

Well, I'm in the process of building a new cockpit for flying/racing and gaming....I have searched the Internet on how to build one and never really came up with anything I truly like..Most of the things I did find were flying simulation only. I wasn't that hardcore to build a flight simulation cockpit only...So....

This was my old desk...VERY CHEAP and QUICK...(and cluttered)

The seat is out of a Camero I found at the junkyard....$15.00 with funk smell and all (Yes I did remove covers to let it air out and to wash covers.)

Thanks..Will probably leave it on the right...I am using this for Racing too...Will have a way for the wheel to pull out from underneath desk..So, I figure that would be a bad idea.

That is a nice build. Where would you monitor be located? With a 17"/19" monitor it looks as if you will be a bit to far away. I would personally move the seat closer to the pedals, but to each his own.

Yeah, where will your keyboard go, unless I assume your arms are very long? :\
Or possibly, if they keyboard does end up being too far, you could mount the seat so that it is able to slide forward (for when youre not flying) and backward...

Only have about $50.00 in it RIGHT NOW..

$15.00--Seat (Junk Yard)
$12.00--Sheet of plywood (1/4")
$10.00---(5) 2x4x8
Already had the sheets of MDF--Keep them in stock all the time.
($20.00 if you were buying a sheet of 3/4" MDF)
Screws and nails (Keep those in stock as well)
Scraps of strip molding.
Will be more to come--

I have a 19" monitor right now. My "cockpit is next to a wall...So I "think Im going to mount this to a stud in the wall.

The seat slides back and forth just like in the car. I will have two keyboards..One under desk and one that will mount on the right side ahead of the joystick. I think im going to make it slide or fold out from there.

Don't forget the racing harness. You don't want to smash your face into your monitor in an impact.....or are you using an air bag instead?
