Ever since I upgraded BF2 to version 1.12 about a week ago, I keep getting messages about having problems with my connection. I usually lag right around that time. Today, I dropped my connection three times for the first time ever.

I'm running an Athlon XP 3200+ with 1 gig of mem and WinXP Pro. I have a cable connection which I just tested:    Download Speed: 4.37 Mbps and Upload Speed:   1.76 Mbps. I don't how to check my connection while I'm running BF2.

I never had any problems with BF2 before upgrading and I've been playing since late August. Anyone have any ideas what I should look for?

Thanks!

It's not a server reboot, it happens pretty frequently and it happens on any server I go to. It's not my modem/connections, it doesn't happen in CounterStrike or on any other website. Plus, that's the first thing I checked.

I too have been having a similar problem. I get "There is a prblem with your connection" message with a lot of lag. It is definitely not a server reboot. For me the problem gets progressively worse. The first map will play almost seamlessly, the second is worse and so on and so on. It happens on 64 player maps down to 16 player maps equally.

Strangely enough the problem seems to center around using the keyboard. If I jump into a helicopter this problem disappears (I fly with a mouse and throttle from the Saitek X45 combo). Also the problem is limited when playing as commander. I switched out my keyboard with no improvment. I also put the keyboard on USB...no luck as well. The problem appears when primarily pressing movement keys although I get the same thing while in the commander screen and pressing B or V to talk to squads. I have sat with the score screen up and watched my ping wich is usually in 50-80 ms range, but if I hold a key down, soon my ping starts going through the roof...sometimes upwards of 500-600 and drops back down when the key is released.

Steps I have taken in an effort to resolve issue.
1. Swap out keyboard.
2. Changed keyboard from PS/2 to USB port.
3. Virus scans and Spyware scans.
4. Uninstall and reinstall of BF2 and SF and 1.12 patch
5. Test connection speeds (217.8 Kbps download 108.4 Kbps upload)
6. Set video settings to Low

I am running a Pentium 4 at 2.67 Ghz
1 Gb pc2700
6800GT 256Mb Video

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
