We heard about neocons and liberals . . . why not moderates?

I'd tend to disagree on that one. I'm fairly moderate yet I'm very outspoken about extremely concrete views that I hold. It'll take more than a gust of wind to change my opinions.ATG wrote:

b) A healthy mix of welfare state and providing opportunities for business to flourish through tax incentives, a highly educated healthy workforce, etc., in the knowledge that a healthy society and economy comes from balancing the needs of business against the needs of the general populace.
c) Abortion only in cases of rape, incest, or when the life of the mother is in danger.
d) Decentralised power to minimise corruption, which inevitably occurs more when power is centralised.
e) Multi-party proportional representation system of government.
f) Protectionism and isolationism within the 'west', co-operation (not intervention) with the outside world to nurture their induction into the 'west' (with the exception of unconditional humanitarian and financial aid to disaster areas, etc.).
g) Secularist with respect to education and government. Religion to be practiced on your own free time. Against the everyday suppression of the predominant religion in a country vis a vis prohibition of nativity displays, etc. - that's part of cultural heritage in my view.
h) No to hypocrisy in dealing with other governments - principles first ALWAYS.
i) Unhindered freedom of speech.
j) The rule of law as it stems from the constitution.
k) A balanced approach to the necessary task of tackling climate change, tempered by economic concerns.
l) Deep respect for and protective attitude towards the cultural heritage of my country.
m) Egalitarian - equal rights for all regardless of race, colour, creed or sexuality.
n) Alternative systems of government elsewhere OK by me as long as they are not directly affecting me in a very real and adverse way - globalisation by choice not by imposition. Respect the diversity of cultures and beliefs across the globe, knowing that just because a system of government suits you doesn't mean it suits everyone.
o) Total governmental transparency with respect to governance, although a delayed transparency is acceptable with respect to matters of security.
p) Regulated free market capitalism. Government intervention to prevent the development of monopolies and to ensure, as best they can, that competition exists.
q) Innocent until proven guilty. No to the death penalty on the premise that miscarriages of justice can and do take place and the fact that permanent incarceration is more of a punishment than death.
r) Supporter of the Geneva Convention.
s) A state of Israel defined by 1948 borders, alongside a fully sovereign Palestinian state. Reparations to those who were dispalced to create Israel. Complete Israeli withdrawal from the West Bank, Golan Heights, Sheba'a farms and East Jerusalem.
t) A Republic of Ireland encompassing all 32 counties of Ireland, with the abolition of the unjustly and undemocratically created gerrymandered artificial statelet of 'Northern' Ireland.
u) Deportation of illegal immigrants, illegal being the key word. Systems in place to facilitate legal immigration.
v) Pluralism.
x) Diplomacy first. Sanctions second. Military action as per point a). Always be open to discussion and willing to engage even your greatest enemy - it costs nothing and harms no-one.
y) Corporate social and environmental responsibility, both domestically and abroad.
z) Energy source diversification, because almost total dependency on but one source of energy is a car crash waiting to happen on so many levels.
I don't exactly see what's so 'hardline' about that Pollux, perhaps you could elaborate. The only extreme aspects are points g, s & t, points upon which I am quite hardline.
I almost agree on this one, i`m not for free abortion but i think a conversation between the mother to be, her doctor and a third party could solve the different cases.CameronPoe wrote:

Geez, I think you just described 90% of the worlds population with that statement. Why don't we just find a tiny, desolate island, drop the other 10% on it, tell them to fuck off and die, and live in peace?CameronPoe wrote:

Why did you even have to mention that in the first place, it's typically the older people that don't provide the equal rights, it's not moderate, or liberal, or conservative. It's everything.Varegg wrote:
