Haven't played BF for awhile and decided i would play today. Updated my game with patch BF2_Patch_1.41.exe and it successfully installed. BF2 loads up just great so I login and it says "connecting to account server" for longer than normal, so I wait. Then after it has taken its time it brings up the following message, "The server has refused the connection." The game works fine in off line single player.

The version number on the bottom left hand side reads, 1.1.2965-797.0 Also my account name is wastedyeti. If that helps any. THanks for any help guys.

Re-install and re-patch.  Thats what i did and it works fine now

Man im so scared to reinstall then repatch! Last time i did that i got screwed. I ended up reinstalling windows just to play BF2. Why is this game so hard to play.

I know what you mean.  Before i got my new computer i ad every error in the book.  "CD key invalid, the shaders error, private rank glitch, cannot connect to port, refused server connections, modified content errors," and a bunch more that i cant remember.  Most of the time the only way to fix it was to re-install.  I ended up re-installing every week or so until i got fed up and took a nice long break.  Hopefully you will be more fortunate.  Try using the following link, it may help:
