How so buddy?  Did you know that Bush has a higher score in the SAT and better GPA then Kerry?  He also went on to post grad studies.

That's pretty much the definition of sexist. And why are only republicans aloud a say?

If it came down to Rice vs someone like Hilary or Obama, then most Republicans would probably vote for her anyway because a vote for a third party or an omitted vote would only help the Democrat.

Condi seems like a pretty sturdy potential candidate, but it would depend on who the competition for the GOP is at the time.  I have no problem voting for her bacause of race or gender.  I'm a child of a single parent home, so I know a woman CAN be an effective leader and make quality decisions.

But... I think we will have to see a caucasion female as the CINC before we would see Condi in there.  And I don't see anyone in gov't right now that I think could make it.  Pelosi... hell no, Clinton... power hungry.

Guess what Major_Spittle, I'm not a Republican (in US terminology) and I'm Irish too so I thought you'd really value my opinion!

Anyone who votes for Condi is wasting a vote. I'll tell you why... it's nothing to do with her political beliefs or proposals or anything like that, it's because of two other very important factors. One: She is black and Two: She is a woman.

I'm not sexist, neither am I racist but let's be realistic, America has never had a black president and it's never had a woman president and I don't think it's gonna change both those facts in one go. Come on ...there's about as much chance of that happening as there is of the next US president being called Hussein! Republicans, stick to what you're good at ...put forward some God fearing cowboy who can appeal to that big red section in the middle of the country.

It's okay Major you can thank me for my contribution later ...no seriously it's ok.

yep, the Irish are racist and sexist.  Thank you for giving me the perspective of how an Irish citizen would vote in the Republican primary.

Exactly! The president doesn't have to be intelligent, they have to be well liked, charismatic, and manipulatable. Bush unfortunately is none of these. Neither is Condi

No, no, no not racist, nor even sexist... I believe the term is 'realist'. Oxford American dictionary defines realism (in the political sense of the word) as: 'the view that the subject matter of politics is political power, not matters of principle; political realism is the oldest approach to global politics.'

I'd personally love a Black, American president... not Condaleeza Rice though, because she's a Republican; and she sounds like a Mexican dish.

Go ahead Rebublicans, put forward a black, female presidential candidate. That would be the best Presidential race ever: a black, female Republican, a female Democrat who is pro choice and a Black guy who's middle name is Hussein. It would be like the political equivalent of 'Brewster's Millions', whoever gets the least votes wins!

She's a smart lady, I'd vote for her.  She has a Ph.D. in Political Science from the Graduate School of International Studies at Denver.  She also speaks fluent Russian, and German, French, and Spanish.  I find it quite interesting that she receives no coverage or praise from the media as a minority woman who has achieved so much.  Why?  She's not a liberal, so she doesn't count to the mainstream media.

I'm not registered with any party, but on a vote.

Rice= No
Powell= Yes
McCain= Yes, if he would pull his nose out of the asses of the ultra-right.
Giuliani= Unknown (don't really have enough of a feel on his political stances)

If Obama or Hillary gets elected you will be eating those words...lol

Also remember President Bush has appointed a more diverse set of top advisers than any president in history. His No Child Left Behind education reform was designed to close the achievement gap between white and minority students. He has worked for an increase in funding for historically black colleges and universities. George W. Bush has done more to empower African-Americans and other minorities than any president in recent history.

No I won't ...I said I don't believe America will go for a black woman. It may go for a Black man and it may go for a woman but a Black woman? ...I just think it would be too seismic a shift for a country that is traditionally very conservative as regards the people it elects to be president.

I don't think Bush is anti-African American by the way, not at all ...just anti-Muslim!

President Bush has said, "When we think of Islam we think of a faith that brings comfort to a billion people around the world." (Sept. 17, 2001)
He also referred to his 'War on Terror' as a 'crusade' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tenth_Crusade). That still has unhappy connotations for many Muslims. He may very well love Muslims with all his heart but his foreign policies are being perceived by the outside world as a persecution of the Muslim world and he's doing this in your name America.

The Muslim world did not attack your twin towers on 9/11, a bunch of extremist religious fundamentalists recruited from many disparate nations did. I only hope the American on the street acknowledges this and doesn't swallow the 'us against them' attitude that the powers that be and the media are attempting to perpetuate. Recognise the many different layers there are to the Muslim world: Iraq was never connected in any significant way to Al Qaeda (prior to the war), Afghanistan is NOT Al Qaeda and neither even is the Taliban (Al Qaeda is the terrorist network that were supposedly given the conditions to operate in Afghanistan by certain people in power i.e. the Taliban), not every Muslim wants America to be destroyed.

Kmarion you seem like a pretty intelligent guy and i presume you know all this already but I worry for the less informed Americans out there. I was talking to an American tourist in a bar in Dublin a while back when the Gulf war kicked off and after SHE turned the conversation to politics I could bite my tongue no longer and asked her why she thought the US was justified in going to war in Iraq ...she replied 'Wouldn't you attack them if they flew two planes into two of your buildings'! To my horror I discovered she was a lawyer, so by no means a dumbass hick!

Anyway I'm derailing your thread a little so I shall leave you in peace ...Go Republicans!
