I already have an ANTEC P160 Case, OCZ 520 W Modstream Power Supply, and Thermaltake 112 Copper CPU Heat sink with 2 - 80mm Fans. The Two systems I am considering are below. I Love EVGA Video cards I am running a 6800 over clocked and it has been solid for 4 years.  Any help would be great Thanks Guys.

Intel System
EVGA LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard
EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 640MB 320-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SUPERCLOCKED HDCP Video Card
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz 4M shared L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor
CORSAIR Dominator 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
Western Digital Raptor WD360ADFD 36.7GB 10,000 RPM 16MB Cache Serial ATA150 Hard Drive x 2

AMD System
MSI K9N Diamond Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard
EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 640MB 320-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SUPERCLOCKED HDCP Video Card
AMD Opteron 1218 Santa Ana 2.6GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Dual Core Processor
CORSAIR Dominator 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
Western Digital Raptor WD360ADFD 36.7GB 10,000 RPM 16MB Cache Serial ATA150 Hard Drive x 2

The machine I am upgrading from is a MSI Nvidia 2 Diamond Platinum with a AMD 1200+ Mobile overclocked to 2.3 ghz. 1.5 gig of 400 ram, and an EVGA 6800 overclocked to 400 mhz and a Thermaltake Volcano CPU Cooler. I know I know old system but it is solid and still loads as fast as some of my buddies’ 64's and the Game runs smooth on high.

Oh I forgot one thing the Intel System is only about $100-150 more

Okay, so basically they are the exact same, but one is Intel and one is AMD, right?  Then basically it boils down to personal brand preference.  Nobody here will be able to tell you which is better, as they each have their strong and weak points.

I am really looking at what kind of performance difference would there be between the Intel and the AMD. I am also looking and hardware suggestions.

Right now the price is at roughly $1600 for the Intel and $1500 for the AMD. I am willing to spend up to $1800

Not a chance, look at any comparison test between the two, AMD always comes out on top, not always by a lot but it still does. I have an AMD X2 but I have no bias. I was like you when building my latest system and couldn't decide between the two. Then I looked at some sites that compared Intel and AMD and ALL OF THEM showed AMD come out on top in both performance and price. Anyone who just says "Intel is good" (or "AMD is good") hasn't compared them.
Go with AMD.

Indeed. C2D Has made the gap between AMD and Intel so big its not funny. Also, AMD's quad core is a steaming hunk of power hungry poo when its next to Intel's more power efficient quad.

Intel without a doubt, certainly not an opteron at the moment.  A C2D will give you far better returns for the same cost.  Yeah, agreed, at stock setting the difference is negligable but overclocked the Intell will just keep opening the devide.

Yes of course I don't do any research before I answer questions...
WTF?

First result in google when I type AMD vs. Intel:
http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-10442_7-6389077-1.html

I don't just give my answers because a friend of a friend said AMD was kinda okay.

C2D.

I've read that an overclocked mid-range C2D (probably that 6600) will outperform an FX-62.
A friend on mine got his 6600 to 3.6 stable. On AIR.

Intel FTW.

Intel of course, who is so dumb and still buys an AMD if you want performance.

Personally, I'd recommend the Intel. And drop the dual 36GB Raptors for two 74GB's or a single 150GB. They're more stable (in my experience).

I hate Intel with a passion...but they got the upper hand for now!!!

IMO...if you have a good MotherBoard, any of the brand will do.

I got a M2N32-SLi Deluxe (Wi-Fi Edition) and that board rock's for OverClocking. AMD Athlon X2 (4200+) 2.2Ghz
It's socket (AM2) so you have the DDR2 Ram slot's...

What are you on about?

The INTEL has much better architecture. I prefer AMD, but I own a C2D and do recommend them. Go for the Intel system.
