OMG! Thatcher was a BAD BAD politician, you ppl never heard of her attempt to destroy the working class, mass unemployment, and a movement away from Social ideals towards Individual capitalist wealth.  "There is no such thing as society" - Thatcher.

I can partly understand why some Americans may think Thatcher was good, due to lack of information; but anyone British should realise how bad her time was, and how much everyone rejoiced when she was OUT! Even now years later, Brits still talk about how she was one of the worst things to happen to this country.

As far as current Politicians, I can't say I respect any of them, I would like to see The Liberal Democrats in power, however we'll see if the ideals of rhetoric match the policies in action -- it'll be a first.

And finally... Tony Blair is a moron, he made have had some ideals, but he has been corrupted by power, and responsibility; and by his too close relationship with the Moronic American Government.  I would be so embarrased by George W Bush, if I was American.
That may be YOUR opinion of Maggie - but it aint mine
Were you a redundant coal miner or a dole sponger by any chance ?
Neither, I wasn't old enough for either.
Are you rich / upperclass, and despise the working class, seeing them as lazy "dole sponger"

I've never been on the dole and probably never will, but thats because I don't need to be, I'm educated and have a good, but that doesn't mean that I think we shouldn't have a wellfair system, privatised healthcare, or an increase in personal wealth above the benefit of Society.  I'm also guessing your a Conservative, which is worrying enough as it is.
Rich - yes
upper class - most definately
despise the working class - certainly NOT
despise scroungers - with a passion - send em to middle east

I now know why you know nothing of Maggies reign  -you were a little kid
Yes I am conservative - now thinking of voting BNP - to get our Country back

I think he was a cunt and has mended his ways. He has watered down a lot of the rhetoric and hardline stances against dissenters in the past 20 years. The cuntishness in the aftermath of the overwhelmingly popular revolution was an unfortunate symptom of the international effort to crush the revolution in its infancy. The problem was that the regime had to adopt a siege mentality because of the rest of the world trying to impose their will on Cuba. So it's as much the fault of the west as it is the fault of Castro.

PS I hardly think free dental care, health care, free education and a guaranteed food supply for all citizens is exactly 'treating his people like shit'.
Uh, he's still been a dictator for nearly 50 years. You'd think that if he had really tempered, he'd allow democratic elections, but obviously this guy thinks that only he or a chosen pick can rule Cuba.

BNP - oh no! please, does the connection with real or not racist aspect; although the fact that some recognise it as racist, means that there is a good chance that racists may be attracted by it.  Maybe you see something about the philosophy or policies that I don't.

To talk seriously the way to solve these problems, is to improve education, improve opportunities, better and cheaper public transport (to get to jobs), make houses affordable, and general make people feel accepted, educated or at least a job skill that they can use.  Society needs the workman as much as the banker, investor etc.  Treat people right, and everyone will benefit, cheat people, pay them shittly and talk about how they're the dregs of society or a burden --- result: bad society.

Can't remember where I heard this quote but I think it is an apt and interesting
"Image for a second that you didn't know whether you were rich or poor, or that neither existed; would you choose A. that their is a massive divide between rich and poor; or B. That even if you were poor you had a chance to make something of yourself." (Uh - may have changed the quote a little - you get the point)."

Better to have opportunity, equality and justice.  In principle I have no particular problem with people who have made their money buy working hard, or by their family earning it.  Although City Workers who earn £1m bonuses.

I said I was "thinking" of voting BNP,due to the void of alternative choices (all wankers)
There is opportunity in place its down to parenting, schools and self ambition to achieve your goals.
I spent some of my childhood in a "Dr, Barnados" home (age 10-12) and I learnt how to follow the rules
and work hard.
I had no "rich" parents or university education - I worked my way up through hard graft & the "school of hard knocks".
What pisses me off with most of todays polititions is they come from public school, rich daddy,& never had
or worked in a real & normal environment and they seem to want to give away my hard earned tax donations
to illegal immigrants, the workshy, slag teen mums, outreach workers, criminals, and our Labour MPs huge pensions.

That's true, but I would much prefer a benevolent dictator (I am in no way saying Fidel is) to a corrupt democracy - the problem with dictators is that they usually ARE corrupt.
The paradox is only a conflict between reality and your feeling what reality ought to be.
