I'm about to purchase a nice gaming mouse as my Microsoft one quite frankly sucks...

I really like the look of the Razer copperhead (particularly the lights) but have heard that it can get quite uncomfortable, and also that it may not work with nforce4 mobos.

The G5 looks just as good, but I can't decide...everybody seems to be in the Razer or G5 Camp...so i'd like to see what the stats say...

(dont flame me for not searching...ive done plenty of that , but didnt find a definative answer)

So based on Windows and BF2 experiences..which one owns?

i got the g7 for desktop use. i love it so much. and the g5 for laptop use. only difference is the wire. i have never had any problems with the connection with the g7. so maybe a g7 if you like wireless.

Used a G5 for over a year then the left button started getting strange, so I replaced it with the Copperhead

BOY do I miss my G5, I will probably give the CH to the wife.. and grab another G5

MX-518?

The G5, i believe, is laser compared to the MX-518 which is only optical.

I also think that the MX-518 has 2 side buttons, compared to the G5's measly 1.

I was all for the G5 myself, but I now own a copperhead. I only own it because Best Buy was out of the G5 but I've come to like the copperhead.

Thing is, the G5 is a lot bigger. I wasn't used to the much smaller copperhead at first, but I've got used to it and I love it. I'll warn you in advance though. Even though you get 2 more buttons on the copperhead (I'm pretty sure the G5 doesn't have 2 on the right side of the mouse) the pinky side buttons are pretty inaccessable unless you have a mutant hand. That being said, the mouse is very well balanced for left or right handed gamers. The response time is amazing, and 2000dpi is pretty sick.

I have to say one thing though, get a good mousepad. Invest in an IceMat or Steelpad. The extra performance is noticeable in a slick pad compared to a cheap cloth pad or a bare desktop.

A few people complain about drivers being poor with the copperhead but in my experience they loaded off the disk perfectly, and it works great. The cord is pretty thin and very lightweight.

If you need a bigger mouse and you're right handed anyway, the G5 is the way to go. If you want a little extra sensitivity and a smaller mouse, go with the Copperhead.

Feel free to PM me if you want to know anything else about the copperhead. As far as the G5 goes, I don't have one so I can't tell you anything from personal experience there.

Ive been using cheap mouses before then i got a logitech lx7 for my laptop but i got used to just using the touchpad so it hardly got used so i decided to stick with the brand and get the g5 fits my hand well and my hand isnt even that big, my friend has a copperhead and he said that it doesnt support your palm well so if you play for along time its better to go with the g5.

"only" is quite nicely said.

The 1600dpi of the MX518 are more than sufficient and optical sensors still respond way better at high speeds (can't find the link right now, but there's been a test some time ago that showed us how stable the control of optical devices in comparison to laser still is).

So far, there have been many people who didn't like laser all that much - a good optical mouse really does the job.

But well, my vote here goes to the G5 - simply because the copperhead does not have the necessary weight to feel comfortable to me.

In my opinion, the Razer.

Tech-wise, it's identicle to the G5, so it's purely a matter of ergonomics and looks. I tried out my friends G5, and I didn't really like the right-hand-only feel to it, and I thought the razer was much more comfortable. That said, it probably has something to do with the fact that my previous mouse was an ambidextrous microsoft one, so I was more used to that feel.

Try out the mice if you can, or if not, try out a random mouse designed for right-handers only and one for rights and lefts to get a general feel for each type.

For me, the real deciding factor came down to looks. The razer was a perfect match for my mousepad and neons (shiny greeeeeeeeen ).

Copperhead>G5.

My brother has a G5, i have a copperhead, i have used them both a lot and i like the razer over the G5. It's lighter, more responsive and more accurate imo.

Razer > Logiteck

I tried both and took both back.     The Copperhead has an edge that  is really uncomfortable. The G5 is huge and the thumb button is above the indent  where your thumb would naturally sit,  so I wasn't feeling it.   I  went  with a Deathadder and   its all good.

Alright, from what I hear and see the copperhead is a good mouse.

my g5 wore out and it was ether that or another g5 and I decided to get another g5 because the copperhead is infamous for wearing out.

Oh, did I mention its a good mouse? well it is.

Neither - mx518
anybody who says they notice the 400 dpi difference is lying.
TWO thumb buttons - one for nades, the other for pistol!
It's also longer which fits your hand better (of course this is just opinion).
