and it starts, I'm not really sure how to explain this, but it lags, anybody else have this and if so how did you fix it?

there are a number of things. Check that the server your playing on has a good ping. And check for any downloads running in the backround
try turning your graphics down, try to go on servers near you with low ping if you have a high ping it can lagg alot press TAB and see your name in game, and check your ping if its 30 then its your graphics, if its 200 go on a different server

It's nice to see people help out, I haven't seen the flamers yet in SF forum. I just started playing SF and I really like it.
Also try cleaning your computer, besides virus protection I use spy and add ware sweep and removal, plus a registry cleaner. Also defrag once a week and clear cookies about everyday. This helps a whole lot. make computer maintenance a part of your routine.

It ALWAYS lags when you start special forces. Has done on ever game of it ive played and ive played over 300 hours on it

It's because the BF2 engine is extremely inneficient, doesen't play well with other software, and is horribly buggy. Downloads in the background cause no end of problems, as do power-draining peripherals such as an iPod on charge.
Also, run ideally from a fresh restart to cut down on Windows bugginess.
A testament to this is how my keyboard is starting to stick after I smacked it repeatedly during a lag spike leading to my death earlier.
