What wars would those be? Vietnam and Iraq? Or WW2 and Vietnam? (I have no idea how old you are so meh XD)

Anyway, maybe that's because you had a high rank and was doing paperwork back in the tents all time? Just a (non-serious) wild guess .

A combination of luck and skill.  But hey, I'm glad you were willing to join.  I know I don't have the balls for that....

Ah, well I usually group those under one name but I guess for you it was two separate deployments. Anyway I might be wrong but anti tank is often in the background being covered by a large squad isn't it? I mean it's not like you'll be in a group of 2 or 3 man looking for tanks as if it's some game of BF2... right?

Depends.  When you are 0351 you either get put in an infantry company, or a weapons company.  If you are in a weapons company, you get to use the TOW in the hummer.  If you are in an infantry company, as I was was, you get the SMAW or recently the Javelin and are put right next to the rifleman.

Fuck it i wouldn't join the military at the moment but if found my self in world war that i thought their was no way out of the war except fighting i would join. I think both sides should be allow into schools, you get a balanced opinion plus the people who want to join the army usually know they want to join well before a recruiter comes along.

They're just recruiting people for a job.  It's not like they are pressuring you to join.

Actually that depends on where you go... I've heard and seen video's of recruiters going out of their way a LOT to convince some teenager why it would be so great to join the military. In the end it's your own choice obviously, I myself would consider joining the air force and go to flight school to become a pilot if I didn't have other things above it on my priority list.

The recruiters have a job to do like everyone else in the military. And also like everyone else, they are trained well so that they may have a high success rate.

I'm pretty sure it's only like 4% of the Air Force is pilots, and a very small percent of that is Fighter/Attack Jets.  And even fewer see combat.

I was in the Army before 9/11. I joined at 17 to be an intelligence analyst. People join for different reasons (I needed money for college). The military just isn't for everyone, and recruiters are just performing their job. I'm a Digital Media Art student, and politically I'm far from conservative. I don't agree with the war in Iraq, and I know many people who are currently serving who share my opinion. Labeling people as "liberal hippies", because they either don't want to join the military or happen to disagree with the politics of our country is just as bad as when people claim anyone in the military is a "baby killer". If a school wants to allow recruiters on campus, then they should allow the alternative as well.

I proceed to tell him about the sacrifices that soldiers make every day to insure that he and his gang of anti-war propaganda peoples can do what they do.

So I do my whole yelling argument, using big words... yadda yadda.

More to the point, should recruiters and anti-war hippies alike be allowed on school grounds?

*This statement is not bias at all, for your information ; )*
Motive aside, if people don't want the military recruiting inside schools, then shouldn't the same apply against people who don't want students to enlist?

Most people I run into who do not agree with Iraq joined for the college money, but then actually had to go do their military job and fight.

Kind of coincidence wouldn't you say?

Actually I was sleeping. But thanks for the explanation, very insightful:).

As for joining the airforce, it kinda depends in what branch you go and in what country you serve obviously. You could also join the navy and go to NAS Meridian to become a naval aviator but in the end it would all depend on where they most need you.
What I meant was, if given the chance and knowing for sure I could become a piot, I would consider doing it.

Contrary to popular belief, not all roads lead to Iraq. It all depends on what you choose to do. Of course if you want to be a ground pounder, you're chances of you going to Iraq are better than if you want to be a storekeeper.

I'm for the war. If they have oil and we want it, we take it.  It goes against the basis of out society to overlook that very capitalistic action. Survival of the fittest.

Having the recruiters in the high schools (a critical time for teenagers about to go out into the world) gives the students a career option, just like any of the other job fairs held for that same reason. The "Hippie" isn't actually offering anything but his opinion, so Eff that guy.
I hope your neighbor walks up behind you, shoots you in the back of the head, and takes everything you own.  You had it, he wanted it, so he took it.  Isn't perverted capitalism great!
First of all, my neighbor would never do that. He’s a pussy. Secondly, I’m not perverting anything. The system is tainted. Letting large corporations snuff out small businesses is just a complicated way of taking someone’s food away from them. If we’re going to have a capitalist society, we should do it correctly and cut out all the red tape. You want something, you take it. Thirdly, don’t flame, it’s not necessary.
Sorry to say, but small and medium size businesses are still the backbone of this country and still employ more people that corporations.

Also, if a business goes under or is bought out, the military isn't involved, people aren't getting killed, and governments aren't being overthrown.  My example is exactly the same as what you stated.  If the world operated that way, it would be complete anarchy.
