An officer and refusing to go to war? What was he thinking when he decided to join the military? Getting lots of government benefits for nothing? He deserves whatever punishment they dish out.
He joined the military. What did he think would happen? If your country calls on you, you go and fight.
From that article, "...saying the soldier did not fully understand a document he signed admitting to elements of the charges."
Well that's a great excuse. "I didn't understand it but signed it anyway."

Show me something other opinion that the war on terrorism is illegalFen321 wrote:

Illegal wars are not started by soldiers hence they are not the ones that should be punished for lies.
But its funny i can state this and point back to other posts where people presented extremely well put arguments that don't dabble with the word pussy or traitor, but magically its ignored and the same rhetoric is reintroduced. The justification for the WAR is not present henceforth the war is ILLEGAL. The US is a belligerent occupier of Iraq under International Law and as such the personal responsible for the conflict should be held accountable.

Dude, have you ever served a day in your life for your country? I highly doubt it the way you talk like you about this shit. I have alot of respect for the Germans in WW2, they knew they were fighting against overwhelming odds and yet they still fought until the end. Every soldier, airmen, marine and seaman willingly signed an agreement stating that they would obey all orders from their superiors and fight all enemies foreign or domestic. This guy is no exception to the rule. I have served my country for almost 6 years now without any hesitation to go to war whenever or wherever my country tells me. This guy should be harshly punished and made an example of.
I don’t believe in blindly following anyone. Just because someone gives me an order does not mean I will follow it.
The man is a coward. He got his commision AFTER the war started. He should get the fucking death penelty for being a coward and a bitch. But his Daddy has some massive pull, so he's not going to go to jail.Kmarion wrote:

First Lieutenant Ehren Watada still refuses Iraq deployment orders, calling the war illegal.
A six-year prison term could result. Preliminary hearings are set for Thursday.

If you check under the UN charter itself you will see were it states that acts of aggression go against the entire concept of a "United Nations." Not only that, you can even look at the lack of evidence for the purposed reason to going to war. The downing street memo predating 2003 also sheds light on a already conceived plan against Iraq prior to the ending of all diplomatic actions, this in itself displays a preconceived act of aggression that cannot be masked by false WMDs, Weapon violations, Al-queda links etc.
You took the words right outta my mouth.fadedsteve wrote:

Yea, this asshat deserves whatever punishment he gets. I've been 4 times and will going again later this year. I have no problem with going back except for being apart from my wife for half a year. He signed on the dotted line and took the oath, therefore whatever Uncle Sam tells him to do he must do, or get shot for disobeying a direct order from a superior. But thats just my opinion.CannonFodder11b wrote:

I'm sure in any war you would find a number of people who claim it to be illegal. I bet the French felt it illegal when the Nazis were marching through Paris.Pubic wrote:

Well ,personally I believe that wars must be fought for a bloody good reason ie. protecting your country from an outside threat. But...what do you do if you know that the war you're fighting is morally and ethically wrong ?
For those of you who has followed orders and did as you're told ,I respect you for doing what you strongly believe in, that is that you're following orders that would protect those you care for or even more. Not just for the sake of following orders.
But the only problem is right now you know that what you're fighting for is wrong (even if it's legal by your country's law doesn't mean it is by international law) and with the ever increasing deaths of not only servicemen but also civilians this war is going in a downward spiral. Whatmore with the controversy over torture of POWs that have nothing to do with the war at all.
I know I sound too idealistic since I've never seen the real face of war let alone fought in one. Ex-servicemen (veterans from the war against communism) told me that if possible they wouldn't want to fight in another war but if they have to in order to protect their country and doing what is morally and ethically right, they are more than willing to go back to fight again.
So ,are you doing the right thing ? Everyone has a different belief but whether the belief is morally and ethically correct is another matter.
p/s : Sorry if my post offended anyone or doesn't make sense.

Its ok, you are new here. See Bubbalo for help. He is on your side. Oh and by the way, you are either a neo con or a tree hugger. Take a side and declare it now, neither side wants you siding with the independantsBakaBakaNeko2 wrote:

Malloy must go
Whether he agrees or not, he signed the dotted line and he draws his wages every month. He should be strung up.
Yes bubbalo will be able to help. He would argue about the color of orange juice if someone would challenge himdeeznutz1245 wrote:

Umm.... That’s his job going to war when orderd. He's a soldier(or so we thought) he joined under the known thought that he could be deployed any were, any time, for any reason. No matter what your opinion is on the war don’t join the military and then say "No" im not going to be deployed because I don’t agree. That’s BS.
