It takes 5 minutes just to connect to the account server for BF2. It never used to take this long and my specs are on my xfire account. Please help karma rewarded.

Clear your favorite servers list. Worked for me now it only takes about eh 45 seconds to a minute to load.
Lol the noob problem, i usto have i kno exactly what is wrong when you double click on the BF2 icon i am assuming u are pressing "play BF2 online now!" if so you are WRONG just click on the icon "play bf2". kthx.
go to your profiles general.con file, open it in notepad and delete every line that startsim4confederacy wrote:

GeneralSettings.addServerHistory
as long as you dont want to keep any favourites, also delete all lines starting with
GeneralSettings.addFavouriteServer
if there are one or two you do want to keep, ones you know are still running then just skip those lines. when you boot bf2 likes to try and ping ever server in that list and when servers move it takes longer to check each one.
other things you can try is bypassing the login by adding it to your shortcut, also removing the starting videos and finally making a disk image. I boot bf2 from shortcut to main screen in 17 seconds doing all that.
