Never had to, I just get pissed off when internet assclowns think they can watch a video and judge without knowing how things work. And as for my comment above....Im from a military family, and im on my 9th year active army infantry right now, I know my family dont care if it was blue on blue, they would just want to know that i was dead or alive.SuperMike wrote:

DEAD is FUCKING DEAD, if i had some bean counter tell me my son had died due to friendly fire after the fact, I would crush his fucking skull. DEAD is DEAD. I dont give a flying fuck how. All i need to know was my son was killed in a combat zone, and i will respect him for being the warrior he was. i dont care if he died on the crapper due to constipation. DEAD is fucking DEAD no matter what you sugar coat it with its the loss of a life...SuperMike wrote:
No they knew of the death/injurys but were not told the truth?
Yes - a COVER UP by both USA & UK governments - outrageous
Put Blair & Bush in the dock & get them to compensate the Families out
of their own money, shit they have stolen enough of mine/ours.
There i a reason they don't tell people it was a Blue on Blue action, look at Tillman. Blue on Blue action, the family found out because of a nosey reporter and the mother flipped out madder then shit, when word leaked.
A Cover Up - Is A Cover Up - No Excuses
Zomg the government lied to us! Do you hear yourself? Since when don't they lie to us? Get over it. What is your problem with this? Seriously.SuperMike wrote:

I ve served in the dutch army for 2,5 years and i can tell you, they tell the public about 1% of whats really going on and the other 99%, you ll never see or hear about until something 'leaks' to the press.SuperMike wrote:

Btw i thought every military jet had camera's and they record everything so they can look the tape back to check for eg damage done, they use it as a learning curve for the pilots etc. Video gives a ton of information basically about how the mission or training was executed. How come everyone believed there was no tape of the event?
I can understand why this tape was classified by the us government and they even denied there was any tape. The enemy could use it for their propaganda and it could potentially harm our troops that are still over there and it could also make the politicians look bad. Some people have alot to loose if mistakes like this got out so they keep it quiet.
About the pilots flying the a10's, they saw some orange things on vehicles, which could possibly indicate friendly troops. The pilots verified if there were friendlies in the area and there were no friendlies in the area. So what the hell are these orange things then. At one point, one of the guys had a good look and he thought it were rockets and repeated that a couple of times. They decided to engage. After they engaged the target, the guy on the ground told them there were friendlies in the area.
The guy on the ground telling them there were no friendlies messed up, feeding the pilots with false information on which they based their decision to engage the target. It could very well be that the guy on the ground was misinformed too and the gave the pilots all the info he had at that time.
Anyways someone messed up, shit happens.

Poor Brits can't really blame the pilots there was a long time before they actually fire and they got confirmation and told there were no friendlies in the area. The best we can do is learn from this and make sure it doesn't happen again.
Maybe thier guilty of bad judgement, but it was an accident. It's too bad the pilots did that. I feel for the lost soldier, death is never good. I feel for the pilots. Maybe they should get a reprimand for not properly identifying thier targets, but they did get an !all clear! of friendlies= THERE IS ONE MAJOR MISTAKE. That's the second worst. The first being the cover up and the lies. THAT's punishable IMO.
Why would it be "classified"? it had no information that could be harmful to the war. Its just a major fuckup the US governemnt is too proud to cop up to. A friendly fire kill is a bad thing, but happens. A cover up even to the family of the killed soldier is unexcusable. Thats the bullshit part.

The forward air controller was British, the pilots were American. Please get that straight. Therefore, the UK govt was also involved.RoosterCantrell wrote:

Precisely the point of my thread right from the start !!!!!!!!!
Some people do not know the guy calling the shots was British is all I am saying.SuperMike wrote:

I don't entirely want to side with Mike here, but, actually, there is one important difference in this case - the family and their lawyers have been calling for the video to be released for the past 4 years. It was only released when the judge suspended the inquest. Now, I won't go as far as to call it "a cover up" (as I have no proof either way), but the video should have been released a hell of a lot sooner.usmarine2007 wrote:
